Picture of Clip Pin
A familiar form in a new context. Clip Pin is a way to mount a clothes pin to something other than a clothes line.

Step 1: Materials

Picture of Materials
You will need:

1 thin rubber band
1 large paper clip
1 spring type wooden clothespin
* 1 pair of needle nose pliers (optional)

Step 2: Split the clip

Picture of Split the clip
Pull the two nesting curves of the paper clip apart until they form a 90 degree angle.

Step 3: Fit the clip

Create another bend, this time a little tighter than 90 degrees to ensure a secure grip later on.

*The placement of this bend will be determined by the thickness of the material you want to clip onto. I fit mine to the front seat visor of my car, which happens to be 5/8" in thickness; I made another 1", to fit the thickness of my desk [ the bends are adjusted accordingly]. A paper thin material won't require any bend!

Step 4: Join

Fasten the paper clip [small side down] to the top of the clothespin with the rubber band, looping it around until it holds tight.

Step 5: Clip Pin

Clip onto the desired surface & attach whatever you see fit! The eyelet fit my pair of readers perfectly and doesn't even budge on the bumpy country roads near my  home. I also modified a version to clip onto my desk and hold my cell phone charger cable underneath. Feel free to share your own creative applications. Enjoy!

The word that keeps coming to mind is "elegant". Very nice idea, clearly presented and well-described.

When I first saw the title I didn't get it, but then when I read the instructable... It's one of those things you smack your forehead and think "Why didn't I think of that?!" Very, very clever and fun and above all practical. Thanks for a great instructable and an even greater idea :)
