Co2 Car And Solar Powered Boat

The Co2 car's side intakes actually work, and empty into the wheel wells. My Solar powered boat was the fastest boat that my engineering teacher has seen. He said it would have won the races, if only I finished it on time!

I built one of these in tech class last year. It came in first place. It went around 80 feet in .839 seconds. That's about 100 mph. Beat that. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

i made a solar powered boat,the motor i used was from the 12 volts vaccum cleaner, it is so fast that could ramp on the shore, i need some modifications to do.

I think it is a CO2 powered car, which uses a canister or something filled with pressurized CO2 and put in the hole in back of the car.

But you need a special station to launch it unless you get one where you pull the pin.

I wish I could, but I don't want to A) take the boat apart to show the innards, because I have it just right and any monkeying around will ruin that.
B) the side intakes are far to hard to explain without actually re-building them, which took over a week to do.

Plus, I've completely forgotten how to make them. I'll try to scan the plans now that the scanner is working. It'll show more detail, like the dotted lines.

Where did the C02 come from in the car.

That hole in the back is where you put the Co2 canister. When the seal is broken the Co2 propels the car quite fast.

Hmm I remember winning good money in a few company sponsored school comps, one was a car that had to be built with a fairly minimal set of components, there were some gears though so we made an uber light one gave it a high gear and I did a little cheating, we were given two batteries, one for testing one for race day... both went in the car and under a bit of cardboard, that way none of the other teams knew... Only problem we had was wheelspin... Also Co2 boats are even more fun... but really difficult to build correctly, they want to do backflips etc... Ours had a secret and unique system, it involved a few bits of tiny pipe... Result was stability.

They may and can assist you in the written Instructable process. I have not yet been informed, about them having to assist any process....
Infact they may be the complete opposite.. Just being an appropriate medium to display a multitude of different things...

Video's and slideshow's are not "supposed" to be for anything. They are just a convienient way to show interesting project's etc...

sorry I suppose my verbiage was incorrect.That being said I was under the impression that instructables were to be used to instruct how to make or create something,not just show what had been done with no instruction on how to do it.Your pictures and the projects look very good,its too bad we will all have to figure how to re-create them ourselves.Unless of course you add the instructions!

Yea, I hoped that it would help to spin the wheels faster, plus it hides the holes. They were a pain to cut out though. Unfortunately at the races the wheels locked up and blew out. Under all that dust is green to purple chameleon paint.

Thanks! The air intakes were the hardest to make. It will be hard to tell how they were made, without actually showing the process. (It involves a lot of risky "If-I-don't-cut-just-perfectly-and-on-the-line-it-will-completely-screw-the-car-up-and-I-will-have-to-re-do-it-all-make-or-break" type of cuts.) Otherwise it is relatively easy. I will try get to the explanations soon.
