The Co2 car's side intakes actually work, and empty into the wheel wells. My Solar powered boat was the fastest boat that my engineering teacher has seen. He said it would have won the races, if only I finished it on time!

I built one of these in tech class last year. It came in first place. It went around 80 feet in .839 seconds. That's about 100 mph. Beat that. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

samando says: Apr 25, 2009. 3:12 PM
try stuffing a heap of sparklers down the car's rear end... that might beat it
Electroinnovation says: Apr 26, 2009. 4:26 AM
Maybe, or putting 10 jatos on a real car

how about...

just as many on this, but pointing all different directions- that way the competition get blown up.

i made a solar powered boat, the motor i used was from the 12 volts vaccum cleaner, it is so fast that could ramp on the shore, i need some modifications to do.

is that just wood how did you carve it
g chord says: May 6, 2009. 2:41 PM

Ok... I'll do it and look like a moron... I get the boat... But what tha heck!!?? Co2??? side intakes?? HuH!!?? Do explain please!! I'm confused as heck! LoL! :) Looks awesome man!!
cowscankill says: Nov 9, 2008. 4:57 PM
I think it is a CO2 powered car, which uses a canister or something filled with pressurized CO2 and put in the hole in back of the car.
Electroinnovation says: Feb 3, 2009. 4:38 PM
But you need a special station to launch it unless you get one where you pull the pin.
sadunpererarules says: Sep 26, 2008. 5:29 AM
awesome. but dude. how did u do it? especially the car.
bleachanime says: Jun 21, 2008. 2:16 PM
this slide show is awsome but can u please try 2 explain how you did this
xACIDITYx says: Apr 23, 2008. 9:49 AM
Nice!
ry25920 says: Jan 30, 2008. 5:20 PM
can you please post instructions. I really want to see this.
Spl1nt3rC3ll (author) says: Jan 30, 2008. 8:03 PM
I wish I could, but I don't want to A) take the boat apart to show the innards, because I have it just right and any monkeying around will ruin that.
B) the side intakes are far to hard to explain without actually re-building them, which took over a week to do.

Plus, I've completely forgotten how to make them. I'll try to scan the plans now that the scanner is working. It'll show more detail, like the dotted lines.

Thats why I beleive this is a poor instructable.
Spl1nt3rC3ll (author) says: Apr 1, 2008. 5:52 PM
It's not an Instructable. It's a Slide Show.
http://www.instructables.com/blog/BCJMPAAF9MHREFN/

Use a slideshow to show pictures of a finished project, a work in progress, your work space, or something that you don't quite have full enough documentation to make an Instructable. Slideshows are perfect for sharing your old projects, or those projects that you did so fast that you forgot to take pictures along the way. You can outline what you did, what tools and materials you used, and show off the final project.
MadMechanicMike says: Apr 1, 2008. 5:54 PM
its a poor slide show then.
Spl1nt3rC3ll (author) says: Apr 1, 2008. 6:05 PM
Well, at least explain why you have that opinion.
Spl1nt3rC3ll (author) says: Apr 23, 2008. 6:45 AM
Hmmm, no comment eh? You said that with no rhyme or reason, just blatant rudeness?
ReCreate says: May 15, 2009. 6:03 PM
Yup,He failed
Spl1nt3rC3ll (author) says: Apr 1, 2008. 5:54 PM
*Sigh* why can't anyone understand that. It's written very clearly.

ry25920 says: Jan 31, 2008. 6:05 PM
Where did the C02 come from in the car.
Spl1nt3rC3ll (author) says: Jan 31, 2008. 7:51 PM
That hole in the back is where you put the Co2 canister. When the seal is broken the Co2 propels the car quite fast.

Hmm I remember winning good money in a few company sponsored school comps, one was a car that had to be built with a fairly minimal set of components, there were some gears though so we made an uber light one gave it a high gear and I did a little cheating, we were given two batteries, one for testing one for race day... both went in the car and under a bit of cardboard, that way none of the other teams knew... Only problem we had was wheelspin... Also Co2 boats are even more fun... but really difficult to build correctly, they want to do backflips etc... Ours had a secret and unique system, it involved a few bits of tiny pipe... Result was stability.

Video and pictures are cool to use,but they are supposed to help show the instructable process. The boat looks like it could be a really cool project living in Fla I would love to see the instructable so I can have one too!
Lftndbt says: Dec 30, 2007. 4:18 AM
Ummm... sorry... did I miss the part on "Video and pictures are cool to use, but they are supposed to help show the Instructable process"

They may and can assist you in the written Instructable process. I have not yet been informed, about them having to assist any process....
Infact they may be the complete opposite.. Just being an appropriate medium to display a multitude of different things...

Video's and slideshow's are not "supposed" to be for anything. They are just a convienient way to show interesting project's etc...

;)
fegundez1 says: Jan 1, 2008. 3:41 AM
sorry I suppose my verbiage was incorrect. That being said I was under the impression that instructables were to be used to instruct how to make or create something, not just show what had been done with no instruction on how to do it.Your pictures and the projects look very good, its too bad we will all have to figure how to re-create them ourselves.Unless of course you add the instructions!
Fenwick says: Dec 16, 2007. 5:46 PM
great idea with the side intakes leading to the wheel wells.
Spl1nt3rC3ll (author) says: Dec 29, 2007. 8:00 PM
Yea, I hoped that it would help to spin the wheels faster, plus it hides the holes. They were a pain to cut out though. Unfortunately at the races the wheels locked up and blew out. Under all that dust is green to purple chameleon paint.
Spl1nt3rC3ll (author) says: Dec 29, 2007. 8:02 PM
Oh, and the wheels have spinners too. : )
MisterSlippy says: Dec 16, 2007. 5:47 PM
V.Cool -- would love to see some stills and explanations of the construction process though.
Spl1nt3rC3ll (author) says: Dec 16, 2007. 9:53 PM
Thanks! The air intakes were the hardest to make. It will be hard to tell how they were made, without actually showing the process. (It involves a lot of risky "If-I-don't-cut-just-perfectly-and-on-the-line-it-will-completely-screw-the-car-up-and-I-will-have-to-re-do-it-all-make-or-break" type of cuts.) Otherwise it is relatively easy. I will try get to the explanations soon.
