Coat Tree from Stair Newel

Coat Tree from Stair Newel
You can make a sturdy and attractive coat tree just like Pottery Barn Kids . . . for way less . . . out of a stair post or newel, some hooks and pine shelf brackets.  Visit your Restore center (Habitat for Humanity's surplus building materials branch) to pick up stair parts on the cheap and DIY a coat tree for less than $20!  I've got the complete instructions and more photos of this DIY Coat Tree here.
