First I chose a suitable piece of furniture,I bought this coffee table from a car boot sale for £10,measure the base inside and then search out for a suitable mirror to fit.

Doesnt have to be exact as you could use wooden lats painted matt black to make up the difference.

I then chose a few model reptiles to stick to the underside of the table top.I cut one in half and stuck it to the side to make it look like it was just entering the hole.I then stuck some wood shavings etc to the top to make it look a bit more like as if it really was under your floor.

The photos dont quite give it justice but its amazing how many people are fooled by it.It looks best at night with dimmed lights and a light on inside the table.
