Coffee

Coffee. Just the sound of the word is enough to get people to get money out of their wallets, caffeine on the brain and themselves out of bed. Whether you like it strong or thin or black or not or hot or cold or straight up or flavored, there's an Instructable on how to make a cup of joe you'll just love. There are guides on every step of the process, from roasting your own beans, brewing the stuff, and adding various and sundry ingredients to spice it up. Coffee is a multinational drink. Everybody loves coffee! Except for those who don't. And phooey on them.

did you know that small ammount of coffee makes opposite effect? it calms down instead of energy boosting. i tried it and works. i talking about just few small spoons or just enough to cover the bottom of the cup.

Well, stimulants (and depressants) are known to have the opposite effect on someone who already shows those symptoms. So if someone is highly hyperactive, a little coffee might do the trick.

This works with pretty much all drugs, so that's why doctors are extremely careful not to give anti-psychotics to someone who isn't already psychotic (well, most of them are).

Coffee should be a controlled substance for some people with chronic lower back pain. After years of lower back pain I gave it up in '79 on the recommendation of a macrobiotic freak and haven't had a serious back pain since. It wasn't the caffeine because decaf didn't help and I still do caffeine.

I LOVE coffee. I rescued a three-pot Bunn commercial coffee maker from a trash pile. I carefully disassembled, cleaned and sterilized the entire thing, reassembled it and got some glass pots to go with it. When I have people over, we can keep knocking out pot after pot, like it's a diner in my kitchen. Can't keep it plugged in all the time though-it keeps a pot's worth of hot water inside and makes my power bill go up like $30 a month! You gotta like coffee for that. Lately Starbucks seems too dark and acidic for me, and restaurant coffee just sucks anymore. I think they make it crappy so you can't just go for a cuppa anymore, they want you to buy dinner, dessert and take something home from the bakery. Thieves....

Knex coffee maker? o.0 Wouldn't it melt? lol
Jan 15, 2009. 7:50 AMBartboy says:
LoL, have you tested knex? It's so much stronger than lego. Lego melts really easily, knex can't melt even if it's soaking in a pot of boiling water.

I still love a good cup now and then, but ever since I was forced not to drink it for a few months after my surgery, I have no desire to get back on the addiction train again ;-) Too many headaches.....literally.

overpriced, watered down coffee. Blech. The stuff that comes out of the machine at work is better (and they don't even charge us for those).

Oh, buying the coffee grounds or beans is ok, but buying it after they have messed with it, I just don't care for it. A few of my relatives used 1 - 4 tblsps of coffee for a ten cup coffee maker.....I use a minimum of 14 for a 12 cup maker....I like to taste it ;-)
Jan 12, 2009. 7:43 AMautomatica21 says:
People like us need to educate others that bitter coffee is the result of too much water and not enough beans. Folks think they don't like strong brew, what they don't like is bitter. thus a minimum of 2 TBS/6oz of H2O
Jan 12, 2009. 11:19 AMGoodhart says:
Cheaper brands of preground coffee can become odd tasting at higher concentrations take Folgers, for instance, although it is certainly not CHEAP in price
Feb 28, 2009. 10:45 PMeuphoriadj says:
Try adding a pinch of salt It seems to embolden the flavor Heck a small pinch with good grounds can add a little COFFEE to the coffee Just don't add too much. salty coffee is as bad as bitter coffee
