Color Changing All Seeing Eye Crystal Ball

This is a fun and easy project that looks great. I will be using it as a prop for halloween but have also been using it as part of my Halloween decor. I have gotten many compliments on it and decided to show others how to make it. Enjoy!

Step 1: Materials

Small plastic cup (I used a gelatin cup)

Glass ball ornament (dollar store)

Clear or frosted plastic about the size of your ornament (plastic bottle or packaging)

Color changing LED tea light (Dollar Store)

Utility knife

Black Permanent Marker

Tape

Scissors

Glue gun & glue sticks (You can also use regular glue)

Spray paint (You can also use liquid paint and brushes)

Image of an eye or an All seeing eye (Magazine or the internet)

Step 2: Creating the All Seeing Eye...

Using the black marker, draw the eye onto the plastic by placing the plastic over your printed eye image and tracing it. Keep the eye in the center. I chose to freehand it because I wanted to make it larger and change the shape of it. After you have done the eye, draw lines outwards from the eye making rays. (If you are not artistically inclined, you can also print an image of the all seeing eye onto a transparency sheet on your printer)

Depending on the plastic used, it will affect the final mood and look of your crystal ball. A frosted plastic will
diffuse the light and overall light the eye. Clear plastic will allow the glass to be better illuminated, giving a brighter orb glow. However, clear plastic will make the eye harder to see, unless it is by a light colored background. You can also place your palm behind the ball to make the eye "appear". Test it out, if you do not like the clear, you can frost the plastic with a light paint.

Using the scissors, trim the plastic as close to the image as possible, leave an untrimmed tab of about a half an inch at the bottom. This will help with placement later and prevent it from rolling around inside or falling over when inside. Place a piece of tape on the tab and fold it lengthwise onto itself, to extend the tab. Set aside.

Step 3: Inserting the "All Seeing Eye".....

Take the topper off the glass ball ornament. Roll the "all seeing eye" into a small tube shape and insert it into the ornament, with the tab facing out of the ornament. Set aside.

Step 4: Creating the Base

Using the utility knife, cut a hole about the size of your ornament topper you removed. Paint your plastic cup. I chose to spray paint the inside gold, for depth. You could also use a colored plastic cup, to skip the painting. You can also opt to glitter it up, embellish it with rhinestones or stick on jewels. I chose a plain base, but feel free to make yours as enchanted as you would like. Also, feel free to post pictures of your creations in the comments.

Now on to the next step.....

Step 5: Putting It All Together...

Put glue around the topper area of the ball, at this point you can choose to glue down the tab now or glue it down inside the cup after, completely up to you. Place the glued topper onto the hole in the plastic cup. Let cool and/or dry. Put glue around the top of the LED tealight. Place LED tealight inside of plastic cup, making sure the light is partially visible behind the "eye". Let cool and/or dry.
