Introduction: Commemorative Hard Drive Clock

This instructable was inspired by those fancy clocks that look like wood books. You can open them up and see a little congratulation and a clock.This project achieves the same effect but with a dead hard drive.

Step 1: Parts

To build this project you will need;

A hard drive (dead)

Clock works

Hinge(s)

You may also want;

Tools

Hot glue gun

Epoxy or other strong way to hold the hinge on. There is not enough room for srews

Step 2: Disassemble the Hard Drive

Completely disassemble the hard drive. There will be screws under labels.

Step 3: Attach Clock Face

Hot glue the shiny platters onto the case over the hole. Try to center it over the hole. Trim the extra glue

Step 4: Add Clock

Glue the clock on the back centered over  the hole. You may want to glue the circuit board on first.

When the clock is firmly attached add the hands. I had to bend mine to work. you may need to shorten them to fit or carve out some of the case with a dremel. It is important that they don't catch on anything.

Step 5: Add a Hinge

Now you need to attach a hinge or two to connect the two halves.
This will need to be a very strong connection.
