If you dont want to shoot anything but want to have fun, dont modify it any from when you buy it then turn it upside down and spray. Its freezing cold. ( it can actually cause frostbite if you are over exposed to it for a long time so...)

P.S. Think About It
tyz127 says: Feb 26, 2009. 5:32 PM
yeah. like gamelvr said, it would freeze, and the air would come blasting out faster. by the dubbs: if you spike up your hair, use gel and then flip the duster can over. it freezes th gel AND makes your hair stay up way longer. **IF YOU HIT YOUR SCALP AND HAVE FROSTBITE IT IS NNOOTT MY FAULT

I bet the pen could fit a knex rod in.....

OOH OOH! It might also fit a nerf dart
standacrazytaco says: Apr 6, 2009. 11:53 PM
haha thumb tack fit in

Hah! Nice, i recommend using the Air Dr. brand Co2 refillable air buster http://www.audio-discounters.com/30103.html its smallcovert, Co2 is more pressure, refillable, and more economic, for all your blasting needs! Good instructable!

Using a key to gouge expletives on another's vehicle is a sign of trust...and friendship.... Who did this to my freakin' car? We are not here, we will be in the computer room.

MrApples says: Mar 22, 2008. 5:15 PM
Could you just use regular Co2 cans to refill it like the ones used for Co2 airsoft pistols?
!Andrew_Modder! says: Mar 22, 2008. 9:45 PM
no unfortunatly, there un-refillable, because unlike the big ones that just press a valve down, the small ones actually pierce a hole in the thin metal top, which when your done its just a empty carterage with a hole on the top. you might be able to see what i mean in this picture (the top is just a thin metal, which you puncture inside of what ever your using it in) Picture : http://www.airpistol.co.uk/images/pai29.jpg
MrApples says: Mar 23, 2008. 10:45 AM
Let me rephrase what I said, I mean that could you use Co2 cans like the ones used for airsoft pistols to power it.
!Andrew_Modder! says: Mar 23, 2008. 12:58 PM
um . if what your asking, yes you can put the 12 and 16 oz cans in the 'refillable air duster' i mentioned earlier which the 12oz cans are the ones that are used in bb-airsoft pistols.

stick a needle in it, aim at butt of person wearing suit pants/ tights im not responsible for what u do with this advice
lukeRAMBO says: Dec 4, 2006. 4:26 PM
pretty sweet man you should make a barrel where the pen inside goes, then you can shoot small projectiles from in there. that would be cool

This is highly approximate, but I did a little figuring. In the movie, the pen shot off screen in two frames. The pen itself is probably about 13.5cm, and I figured it traveled about 1 1/2 times its length to get off screen. Assuming a rate of 15 frames per second, that gives it a speed of about 151.875cm/second, or 3.4 miles per hour. If the film is 30 frames per second, then just double the speeds. Of course, high speed cameras under straight on conditions (a la Mythbusters) would result in a much higher degree of accuracy with these calculations.
pyrotech_wannabe says: Dec 1, 2006. 8:44 PM
what the hell!?!?! did you figure that out all by urself man you are a genious thats awsome
mrmath says: Dec 2, 2006. 7:24 AM
Actually, it's not that difficult. Speed is just distance over time. I measured my pen (13.5 cm) and approximated 1 1/2 times that as the distance traveled. It happened in two frames. At 15 frames per second you get 2/15ths of second. Put the distance traveled (13.5*1.5) divided by the time (2/15) into a calculator and it gives you 151.875cm/s. Put that into a calculator to convert to mph, and it gives you the speed in mph.
zachninme says: Nov 29, 2006. 6:50 PM
I doubt that is 15FPS on a cell phone. However, 3.4 MPH doesn't sound right, I haven't watched the video, but it should go at least 5. And 3.4MPH is really 3.39734699, but lets not get picky about the 0.00265301 MPH, after all it is only -0.0780906398% less! (Google calculator rocks)
mrmath says: Nov 29, 2006. 9:14 PM
Well, I did say highly approximate :) Oh, and I think 0.780906398% counts as "about" :) I actually was suprised myself to see it come in at only 3.39whatever mph. I would have guessed higher, which is why I figured it out in the first place. If I had the means, I would do it like the Mythbusters do. Put up a black and white bar ruler, setup a high speed camera. Have Grant review the tape and figure it out. I wonder if you held on to it, pulled the trigger, then let go, if you'd get a better shot then if you just pull the trigger.

"Have Grant review the tape and figure it out." hehe "I wonder if you held on to it, pulled the trigger, then let go, if you'd get a better shot then if you just pull the trigger." Probably not, as you probably couldn't hold on, and the friction from your hand would slow it down too much. Can the owner shot some footage first in front of a ruler (yard/meterstick would be better) and then hold the stick vertical and drop something like a pencil.)

lol so much math
mrmath says: Nov 29, 2006. 9:15 PM
What do you expect from a guy whose screen name is Mr. Math?
S1nkl33k (author) says: Nov 30, 2006. 7:39 AM
yeah, i ran out of lunch hour to figure out exact velocities at a given temperature with a normal atmospheric pressure at sea level. I just thought it was nice i could shoot it across the office... And yes, if you hold the base of the pen for a moment and let a little pressure build up, it did seem to go a larger distance.
DrWeird117 says: Jun 17, 2008. 11:18 AM
is ur user s'posed t'be sink leak??? hahahahahahaha
PetervG says: Nov 29, 2006. 8:52 PM
You could also rig it up so that the tube the air comes out, is wide enough for a air soft bullet, presto, an air soft gun that shoots 1 ball per 10 seconds?
mrmath says: Nov 29, 2006. 9:14 PM
That was done just a few days ago in another instructable.
PetervG says: Nov 30, 2006. 3:22 PM
: / I thought so but didnt bother to double check.

...and of course, I'm not responsible !!
Cissy...nobody wants to accept responsibility for anything nowadays...
Not, of course, that I am suggesting you are responsible, but merely the way in which you wrote and of course, I'm not responsible !!
Even if somebody did decide to sue you, they wouldn't be able to find you if you used the tor proxy.

All the same, nice and simple instructable.
