This is basically a DOS program. It can easily be avoided by old geezers. Try something else.

In XP it will give you a countdown. In vista, it says your computer will shutdown in less than a minute. I did something similar to some computers at a store.

wouldnt they notice this? is it possible to put a system icon there like internet explorer? Great concept, but it would be hard to fool a computer noob
I guess microsoft made Vista pretty different from XP. Try the instructables in the "Related" section to the right. Hope I helped.

ive gotten some reports that the win makes the name of the file when you send it change to the name you named it. without the win, i assume the sending makes the name stay as shutdown.exe. also your virus does not include the timer. after -t, put a space then go like shutdown -s -t (any number you want not in parentheses) -c "your message no parenthases unless you want i guess) that usually works. i think vista does not have the win files that are required for windows to run. in one of the system folders in your computer it contains necessary files for windows. the prefix is usually win. i assume for vista it is a different prefix or something (maybe liek vis or something XD). try not putting the win for vista computers. i wouldnt know for sure bcuz i dont have vista. (heard it sucks). just dont put win. skip it and just start the location at shutdown -s ......
I bet that it has something to do with the "win" at the beginning of the "code". Vista must not have the "win" extension for the shutdown command file.

it is mostly the same, you open command prompt (type cmd in run) then type in the code from above. just like you would do in shortcut. But if you want to do it in notepad you will type @echo off shutdown -s -f -t 60 -c "hahahahahahaha" and then save the file as "my computer.BAT"

says:
shutdown -l -t 15 -c "Logging off" should log the user off. -l means to log off. -t means the time it would take to logoff in seconds. -c means to place a comment.

Try the Fake Virus!!! Instructable and tell me how that did. Or you can try this code: shutdown -s -t -c "Virus Alert" If that doesn't work try: shutdown -s -t "Virus Alert" -c
