Do not use straight cable, use CROSS cable, else it will not work.

MehmetE4 (author)2015-07-10

İ only have 1 connection ??? help please ?

AS67 (author)2014-07-15

First you need to have either a desktop that is wirelessly connected, or a laptop. bridging is irrelevant. connect an Ethernet cable to both the pc and the xbox 360.

win 7 86x ultimate: click start, click control panel, then go to network and sharing center, you'll see in the top left "Manage Wireless Networks," once there, click adapter properties. when the properties menu opens, go to the sharing tab. Tick-

"Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection"

From there, it should not be a problem to set up the Xbox 360. Cheers.

Help me I followed all your step and I still can't connect to xbox live. This is what Test Status Xbox 360 X Network . . . . . Internet . . . . . Xbox Live Please help ASAP

DrWeird117 (author)2010-06-28

This isn't technically wireless. Wireless would be if you used the Wireless Adapter.

swimmer95 (author)2010-03-30

will this work if you have a mac?

for XP Pro or Vista Home Premium (and whatever equivalent for 7) ICS can be configured by going into network connections, right clicking on the wireless, clicking properties, clicking the sharing tab, then clicking the allow other computers to connect through this one button, then selecting the ethernet connection from the drop down list, then hitting OK.

You can connect to xbox live using this method but i personally wouldn't recomend it.

i've gone through about 12 -15 (wasn't really counting)  xbox's since i bought my 1st console 2nd hand a few of them stopped working for other reasons but l went through the most of them when i shared my laptops internet connection through xp.

I connected in this way for approximatly 3-4 months when i was connected in this way i went through around 8 -10 most of which had the same error i can't remember the exact code but console displayed 3 red lights and error message i asked guy at the store were a kept returning my consoles and he said the error was to do with hardware failure on the ethernet port.

I kept getting newer consoles which also broke the one i have now is one that i had previously returned but having been repaired shortly after recieving this console i stopped connecting through my laptop and i've had this one for at least without and problems.

I would risk this if you don't have a guarantee on your xbox i was lucky that with store i bought my console from i could just go a swap it for another there and then with out having to send it off.

mattrlc00 (author)2010-01-01

kal1fornia (author)2009-12-31

hey it has to be a crossover ethernet cable correct....?

jufreese (author)2009-12-18

your wireless and lan both have to be enabled and disconnected for you to be able to bride them

meesarjarjar (author)2008-08-14

Can someone please help me this is extremely frustrating. I followed all the steps but when I test it IP fails. Wireless Network is greyed out (is it supposed to be?) For some reason when i bridge my wireless to my LAN the wireless stops working, and when i remove it from the bridge it starts working again. Could someone please help?

delphi (author)meesarjarjar2009-08-16

your wireless connection is supposed to be grayed out...your using a bridge to your laptop through an ethernet cable so if you passed the ethernet connection test then it should be fine

Hey Guys This Tutorial Is Not As Good As The One I Found, I Had Mine Hooked Up After A While. It Took Me A Decade... Ok Im Joking :D But it took me a long time!

But here Is the link for you

This Way Is Alot Better! Please Comment Here Thanks!

P.S: For Those Having Problems Opening Command Prompt. Open Via Start> All Programs> Accesories> Command Prompt :)

Thank U

Program (author)tikka7862008-12-27

Thank you for pointing out the way to use Command Prompt to do this action. As my tutorials aim to be the most user friendly, I make a note not to use Command Prompt of it can be avoided. As most people will not remember word-for-word what to type in Command Prompt when trying to set this up where access to tutorials like this one and the one you posted are not available. It seems much easier for most people to use the Windows GUI instead of command prompt. I Value your comment. -Nick

daelans (author)2009-06-26

do you need an extra router for this to work?

Shadowfury (author)daelans2009-06-30

You need 1 router and 1 laptop with a wireless connection to that router. So no, you do not need an extra router.

pete-d-jedi (author)2009-02-21

Hi, I have a desktop PC upstairs that is wireless capable but is hooked up to a wired modem. My Xbox 360 is downstairs next to the tv, I have a new wireless netgear router that I was wondering if I could just hook that up to my xbox downstairs and keep the pc wired upstairs, as I know that most my friends have their 360's plugged straight into the wireless router. Can I have both wired upstairs and wireless plugged in the back of XBOX? If so how

lytlboiblu (author)pete-d-jedi2009-06-28

what i would suggest is to connect the xbox to the router wired and the pc to the router via wifi. then do the enable internet connection sharing on the Pc wired, selecting the wireless as the network to share to. not sure if just bridging them will work in this case or not. hope this helps

jbuggin (author)2009-02-25

when i select both then rt click, there isn't an option for me to bridge the connection. I wanna play my 360 online tonight. pls get back at me.

MilkCarton (author)jbuggin2009-06-17

i have the birdge connection but it is still not working

z3ddrocksz (author)2009-05-25

if u go in your network connections and right click on the wireless one go to properties click on advanced and check off allow other network users to share this connection

burnam09 (author)2009-05-10

If your using vista and the message shows say you need at least 2 LAN or wireless connections follow these steps. Right click your connection symbol on the toolbar, and click network and sharing center. Then click the manage network connections on the left. Then right click LAN and go to properties. Click the sharing tab and make sure the first box is unchecked. You should be able to bridge now

fwjs28 (author)2009-05-08

this stuff is old, its been posted at least 10 times on original.....

Chiiip (author)2009-05-08

it just says for me, to create a network bridge, you must select at least two LAN ... that are not being used by the internet I'm confused, please help

fwjs28 (author)Chiiip2009-05-08

lan port+wireless port +bridging= bridged connection

Nick Datilio (author)2009-05-05

got it thanks alot!!!

outwestjake (author)2008-03-11

Just a quick question, now when I disconnect the ethernet cord from the laptop, must I unbridge the connections? or do I just disconnect and connect it for next time?

Program (author)outwestjake2008-03-16

You can leave the bridge on the computer, it really doesn't matter, but with the bridge it may say something about the network not connected, and that is because the Ethernet cable isn't plugged in.

Do I still need a Xbox live 3, 6, or 12 month card?

gblax123 (author)Beierlejk2009-04-22

Any will work

yes, this is a way to avoid buying a 100$ device that allows you to connect to the xbox servers through the internet, this system allows you to connect to the interet, not the xbox servers.

phillip8222 (author)2009-01-08

jyeager24 (author)2008-12-30

being the uh...networking genius I am, one thing to make sure of, is that you are willing to risk the quality of your connection speed. Meaning that your bridge a wireless connection that tops is gonna run at whats it up to now? 108? bah N, anyways, its a good idea for those who dont wanna spend money. Ok tips for those, make sure the box next to "Allow other network users..." is checked. You can find this in properties by right clicking the network bridge. Another tip, I run a small network at home, consisting of about erm, 4 computers. Now, three wireless computers and one hardwired desktop. Connecting three wireless computers and a desktop to one tiny wireless router isnt the best thing (surprised it hasnt shouted and caught on fire yet...) but its what we have. For the best quality in speed, try to have the least amount of nodes (thingys connected to the network) connected to your wireless network. ok toodles for now n.n
