It works!

Well, it works as a drill, which is what i needed. It only overpowers the first setting on the clutch, otherwise I can stop the motor with my hand.

I would put a (properly rated) Zener transorb across the line, well, I probably wouldn't do it in the first place, I own all kinds of drills. The idea is that the 'wall wart' probably anticipates a capacitive load, where this is quite the other thing, R + L. When the motor is de-energized, the magnetic field of the inductors, along with mechanical inertia and the motor acting as a generator, wll want to maintain the current through the drill. This will cause a potential spike, which probably won't be too kind to the bypass electrolytic filter that is probably at the 'right hand side' of the wall-wart. The rating of the wall wart is for a purely resistive load, probably. When using it on a large inductor, derating should apply.
