This circuit has many flaws that I didn't notice when I submitted this design, so I am working on a new version that will correct them instead of adding new informations to this one.
However I will make sure to include schematics in my next Instructable.
The idea of this charger is to provide enough energy for about one minute, which is normally enough for an emergency call, without needing to crank during that time, so you can be heard correctly by the other person.
I know this charger has a lot of problems, like the fact that it use two different types of battery to work, so it can be dangerous if used incorrectly. I already have a design for a more efficient emergency charger but I never had the time to submit it. I think I will be able to submit it just after Christmas, but I am not sure when exactly.
Still a good instructable though : )
Instead, the max 756 IC takes the 3 volts, 3000 mAh (9 Wh) from two AA batteries and convert it to 5 volts, 1800 mAh . This way the remaining power is not used as heat but as extra energy to make it charge faster.
The reason I did not used a boost converter is because I couldn't get one at that moment, if I can make another charger I will try to get a good IC for it.
