Carefully put the iPod pieces back together but don't snap closed just yet.

Plug your iPod into the PC using the dock connector. If iTunes does not automatically open up, do so now.

At this time, iTunes should recognize your iPod and will give you the option to restore the iPod to its original settings. Click OK and wait for it to finish.

Once the restore process is complete, your iPod will display a message telling you that the unit needs to be plugged into its wall charger to complete the process. Plug in the iPod for a few minutes and check to see that your iPod works as it should !

I know this is now probably old hat, but I just finished this upgrade using the TRANSCEND 16 GB card. Bought it from NewEgg for around $58.00. I have a 2nd generation ipod mini that I just love, but which was getting crammed for space. I did the upgrade, exactly as above (except with a larger TRANSCEND card), restored the ipod in iTunes and reloaded my songs. I now have a total of 14.8 GB with a whole 11.0 GB still available! Nioce, very nice mod. I also have a perfectly useable microdrve that I can use for something - not sure what? Spare in case my kids mini breaks? She wants an iTouch anyway, so I am sure I'll be getting that one soon too!
