Introduction: CookieTime!

Who needs FaceTime when you can have CookieTime? Nothing like om nom noming with friends!

Step 1: What You'll Need

What you’ll need:
1 large tube chocolate chip cookie dough (I used the value sized Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough)
2 sticks butter, unsalted
2 cups confectioners sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Blue gel food coloring
Black Gel food coloring
Stand mixer or electric mixer
A fine paint brush
An iPhone stencil
Parchment paper
A large baking sheet
Small sharp paring knife
Wire cooling rack
Spreading knife
Small plate
Cookie monster sketch or photo reference
Small bowl or ramekin

(Note: brown food coloring is shown in the shot here, but was not used in the final recipe)

Step 2: Step 1

Using pencil and paper measure out your iPhone stencil. If you don’t have an iPhone to trace (I don’t!), the dimensions should be roughly 4.5 inches long by 2.31 inches wide. Don’t forget the slightly rounded corners!

Step 3: Step 2

Locate Cookie Monster reference material or use the attached image as your guide.

Step 4: Step 3

Preheat oven to 350 °F. On a lightly floured surface roll out a half a tube of prepared chocolate chip cookie dough to a ¼ inch thickness. Transfer to a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for approximately 10 to 15 minutes or until cookie is a dark golden brown. Remove from oven and cool on pan for 2-5 minutes or until cookie is firm, but still slightly warm to touch. Repeat with remaining half tube of chocolate chip cookie dough.

Step 5: Step 4

Use stencil as your guide to cut out iPhone shapes with paring knife. You should have enough baked cookie dough to make at least a dozen iPhones. Transfer cut cookies to wire cooling rack to cool completely.

Step 6: Step 5

In a large bowl, or the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together butter and sugar until frosting is light and fluffy. Add vanilla extract and beat until thoroughly incorporated. Reserve a couple of tablespoons of frosting in a small bowl or ramekin. Add drops of blue food coloring to reserved frosting and mix until it reaches the desired shade of "Cookie Monster blue." Use remaining vanilla frosting to frost cookie tops and edges.

Step 7: Step 6

Add a few drops of blue food coloring to one side of your plate and a few drops of the black coloring to the other side, being careful not to mix the colors. Using your paint brush paint the outline of the iPhone frame, home button and receiver with black food coloring. Paint top section of the screen black, as in guide photo, leaving white space that spells out “CookieTime.”  If you have a pastry bag with a very small tip, you can paint the black bar then pipe CookieTime on top.

Use the black food coloring to paint two large circles for Cookie Monsters eyeballs and two smaller black dots for his eyes and a large smiling mouth. Rinse brush and using your blue food coloring paint Cookie Monster’s fuzzy fur. Take a small piece of your cookie scraps from cutting out the iPhones and place it on Cookie Monster’s mouth then paint over the cookie with reserved blue frosting to form Cookie Monster’s hand. Sprinkle cookie crumbs in and around Cookie Monster’s mouth, if desired.
