This is a slice of a Cedar (Aromatic Red Cedar) Tree that I have made into a cool 3 drawer Jewelry Box! Check it out! It is easy to make!

Step 1Step1: Go out and cut a dead cedar tree or another species (maple,ash, cherry etc.),cut it into manageable lengths suchas 3 ft. to carry home! Now cut off all branches.

Cut your tree into manageable lengths. Three feet is good to carry home!

wood that is freshly harvested from live trees, called green wood, need special care for them to dry without shrinking unevenly and crack, check (radial splits), and twist. Check out paper bagging, linseed oiling and end grain sealing.

Nice work !!! Reading your instructions I could make it since I have made similar smaller ones in the past.... for a novice woodworker you need to add a few more pics ...one of the "U" shape cuts on the drawer after the cuts before gluing ...

this really does look like a nice job :) if only i had a bandsaw... hehe if i could make one suggestion: why not cut off a thin segment from the back of the box, which you could glue back on at the end, so the drawers have a backstop. (an extension of the idea used for making the front and back of each individual drawer) then when you reattach it and sand it will possibly look even better (and if you move the whole thing around you don't need to worry about things falling out the back!)
