It's a great way of holding Garden Pegs and is very versatile; you can hang it from something or you stand it on a window sill etc.
If you really wanted to you could colour some of these in and use them as Christmas decorations!
I have made a PDF template for steps one and two so that if you are able to print onto card life is easy for you and so that if you have trouble imagining what I'm describing you can refer to it for an idea of what I'm on about.
Some not too rigid card (Construction card works best for this design simply because it will flex when the pegs are clipped on to allow it to stay circular when as stiffer card (like the stuff I'm using) while being fine tends to give more of an oval shape. Weaker card of paper tends to just droop or bend under the weight of the pegs.)
2 pieces of tape (have to be quite strong)
A CD/DVD (or something else circular to draw around).
Step 1: Mark and Cut the Card Circle
Place your CD or DVD on top of your card.
Get your pen/pencil and draw round it's perimeter.
Cut out the circle.
Step 2: Mark and Cut the Stalk
Place the CD/DVD back onto the circle of card you cut out.
Using the finger hole in the centre of the DVD as a guide, estimate the centre point of circle. (If you would prefer for this bit to use a ruler and be precise feel free to do so, but finding the exact centre is not terribly important.)
Cut a straight line from any point on the edge of the circle to about 3mm left of the centre (you can make it thicker or thinner if you would like). If you are unsure about this please refer to my PDF Template
Cut another straight line from the edge about 6mm to 12mm to the right of the first cut to about 3mm to the right of the centre.
Step 3: Make the Cone Shape and Put It Together.
Curl the card circle around into a cone shape with enough overlap to fasten them together with a piece of folded / double sided tape.
Place the tape between the two overlapping pieces and press tightly.
Now add another piece of tape on the inside of the cone across the seam. That's what the third picture's showing if it's not clear.
Put some pegs on it!
Feel free to modify this design to your own personal liking, add some colour why not!
I personally find the best way to hang it up is with a hole punch on the end of the stalk and then with some string attaching it to something on the ceiling.
