first of all, you're going to need a basic text editing software(I used notepad). When you are finished, be sure to go to save as,change .txt file to all files, then give your file a name with the extension .bat.

this has to be the most basic file ive ever seen, its not even that well put togeather.

how is this .bat file not well put togather?? how else can you code this?or are you talking about the 'ible?

I think he means its sloppy, such as the "hit the y button" plus it could be a little more realistic. I really cant think of anyone who would be fooled by this. maybe make it look like a virus or make it seem like it makes your computer better.

obviously, i said you could change the messages, those were just examples.
Morriscow says: Feb 16, 2010. 5:10 PM
yeah but it's sloppy. he used pause when he should've used pause >nul
Morriscow says: Feb 16, 2010. 5:09 PM
 use        pause >nul
i do this all the time but i not only put them in the startup folder at school, but i link them to rickrolls and shut down the computers sometimes

Wow! This is soooo advanced! I've never seen anything this awesome my entire life! (Seriously. I learned this when I was like 6. Come on...)

I agree, maybe if there were some type of more interesting screen, like a "message box" and also when you press yes another indow opens up or something. This is not that good. Looks a little fake, no offense...

what happens if you open notepad then put "@echo off" what will happen then

When you learn how to make this copy to hard drives all over a network, move themselves to a windows startup folder so it will constantly run on every startup, and mess with a computer after the main part of the script is done, ill be a little happier. And with the 'hit the y key' button', you should use an "if\else" script to let the person choose between yes or no.

I'm sorry but, This souldnt count as a Instructable, More then 1 even more useful .bat ticks have been submitted. And this is far the worst i have seen. Sorry but i actually hope this gets removed as it just takes up space for no reason. If you could actually write a full .bat instructable, I would support you so thats why i'm going to say, Try it again but this time try to give more info about what everything does. And try to include more functionality instead a echo and a pause. I'm trying to hold myself to the "be nice" comment policy and hope i did that.

i dont blame him he has only been a member for two days
you however have been a member for 2 yearsand you only have 3 comments

so you are being nice but i think this is good for some one who dosent even know what cmd or .bat arehe could do a little better
ThuGie says: Feb 18, 2009. 2:18 AM
Didn't even know I have already been a member for 2 years, But its right i haven't posted any Instructables, And have only posted 3 comments, But that doesn't change that people should just write instructables that don't actually do anything.
