Corolla 2007 ipod radio aux input hack

Step 1Take the radio out

Take the radio out
I have seen other places showing how to take the radio out but all you have to do is take the shifter cover out, you can pry it from the back a little and the front a little and it will come out.
Taking off the heater and shelf middle console only has one screw which is in the center knob(the fan speed).
Taking out the vent part is easy if you shove your fingers on the sides and push while you pry a little.
Main point - Get the radio out
Once the radio's surroundings are removed, it is easy to unscrew the 4 bolts underneath with a long tool that fits and when taking it out or putting it in, you must go straight and slow and pay attention to where it is going, maybe use a flashlight if you can't see inside. Mine had 6 holes because two of the screw sites had additional holes where a plastic spike went. Keep track of the screws because the next step has many more.

How did you take the radio out? I can do the rest of the steps easily but taking this radio out is becoming a pain! Please reply if you can.

Dude thanks for your quick reply, but after HOURS of searching the net, I found a forum that showed me a good way to do it. You have to take out the plastic panel around your gear shifter and then take out two screw for the AC/container panel to remove properly. One thing though. I did everything fine and dandy, but after trial and error, I can't get mine to work with the AUX _and_ CD player. It's either or. Technically speaking: MP3 only works when i take out that 14-wire CD ribbon (this is located right next to your mentioned soldering joints) and CD obviously only works when that ribbon is in.

Yeah. I've tried with a right-side-up CD and also a flipped CD, and still, the AUX doesn't play when the ribbon is in. Oh well, I'm satisfied. Thank you so much for putting this up, man. I've learned a lot about my car and am happy that I'm not limited to only 80 minutes of my music!
