Introduction: Countdown to Christmas Ornament

Countdown the last 25 days before Christmas with this ornament. Turn Santa's sleigh to spin the planetary gear system, in turn spinning the snowflakes.

This ornament is meant to be printed on a high end FDM printer with soluble support or an SLS printer. Our prototype was printed with a Stratasys Dimension SST 768.

Failed to print on DaVinci 1.0. Pretty much all layers stuck together. Suggest breaking it down to component parts.

I should've written this in the description. This ornament is meant to be printed on a high end FDM printer with soluble support or an SLS printer. We used a Stratasys Dimension printer. It needs to be printed as one piece to work

Not a problem. :) I was very impressed at the level of detail and it looks very cool! That's what I get for thinking it'd print on a $450 printer. A guy can dream. lol

Thanks for the reply!

Wow, this is such a beautifully executed ornament in both its design and mechanics! I love the choice to have the snowfalkes overlap each other as well as the numbers counting down for Christmas!

So I was curious. What program(s) you used to model and animate your ornament?

Thanks! We used Solidworks.
