Sweet bun filled with cream, strawberry preserves and fresh berries. It's a killer combination. This cream-filled deliciousness is served at the Nordic Carneval "Fastelavn" which occurs seven weeks before Easter Sunday, but it really is so good it should be served anytime of the year.
I put my own spin on it with jam and fresh berries, as it's traditionally mainly just filled with cream. You can use a bun or brioche, just make sure it's sweet! This isn't so much a recipe, as it is so easy to make, but it is definitely something to try out.
It's even so good there's a danish rhyme about it:
"Shrovetide is my name, buns I want. If I get no buns, I will make trouble... Buns up, buns down buns in my tummy. If I get no buns, I will make trouble."
