Introduction: Create 1700s Style Paper With a Smoothtop Stove

Creating old looking paper is pretty easy to do. I used this method to create pages for my diary project on "The Crucible" in my Advanced English 3 class.

Materials Needed:
Smoothtop stove
Printing paper

Step 1: Turn on the Stove


Turn on your stove to a setting between low and medium. I usually set it to around 4. Let it sit for a while.

Step 2: Lay Your Paper on the Stove

Be Careful: The stove is going to be a bit hot.

Hold the paper by one end and lay the other end on the stove. Slowly move the paper around so that each spot gets heated thoroughly.

Step 3: Heat the Edges

Make sure to heat the edges of the paper to create a better effect. The paper will also give off some smoke if you leave it in one spot for a longer period of time.

Step 4: You Are Done!

Congratulations! You just made some old school paper.

The look of the paper will vary depending on how long you heat it up. You can write on it normally or even put it in your printer like I did. The possibilities are endless!
