Step 1Understanding what we will do

Most social networking sites have an API, or Application Programming Interface. Through this software program you can interact with the content of its respective site. This includes posting articles, updating your status, or sharing / bookmarking links.

In our project we will make use of these APIs, and use them to share a website and post its url.

Some examples of sites with APIs, which we will also include in our project:
  >Facebook
  >Twitter
  >Delicious Bookmarking Service
  >Digg
  >Reddit
  >Technorati
  >StumbleUpon

You've done a nice job of laying out the details, especially for people who want very precise control of how the sharing buttons/links work.

At the risk of undercutting your efforts, I should mention addthis.com which uses remotely-hosted javascript to dynamically add the share buttons/icons for literally dozens and dozens of sites.  It's a good solution for people who may be less comfortable with HTML and CSS, but doesn't grant the amount of control your solution presents.
