The following information is a single lesson in a larger Tinkercad project. Check out this and more projects on Tinkercad.

Lastly, to finish the alligator we will create the eyes.

Instructions

  1. Place a sphere and wedge on the workplane.
  2. Rotate the wedge so that the top points towards the sphere.
  3. Align the sphere and wedge together on by clicking the tab shown in the image.
  4. Scale the base to increase the height of the wedge's base. Make the wedge a hole. Move the wedge into the sphere until the grey shape on the sphere is similar in size as shown in the image (outlined in green)
  5. Select both the wedge and sphere, and group them together to make the eye lid.
  6. Select both the yellow eye at the side of the workplane and the eye lid and choose Adjust>Align.

  7. Left click on the eye lid once so that the eye moves to the eye lid.
  8. Select the center tab on the X, Y, and Z axis.
  9. Change the color of the eye lid to green.
  10. Select all of the objects that make the eye and group them together.
  11. Make a copy of the eye and mirror it to the other side.
  12. Congratulations, you finished making an alligator!
  13. Congratulations! You made it!

Step 1: Creating the Torso

The following information is a single lesson in a larger Tinkercad project. Check out this and more projects on Tinkercad.

Let's continue by creating the Torso!

Instructions

  1. Place a box and scale the sides in so it is 8mm. Center the box to any of the previous objects.
  2. Press W to use the workplane tool. Select the right side of the box. Place a half cylinder.
  3. Repeat Step 2 for the opposite side of the box. Select all three objects and align them together as shown in the image.
  4. Rotate the objects 90 degrees and connect them to the shoulders.
  5. Lengthen the body so that it is 35mm long
  6. Use the workplane tool to place a paraboloid on the back end of the body.
  7. Rotate the paraboloid -14 degrees. The bottom edge should be parallel with the alligator's belly.
  8. Continue to the next step.

Step 2: Creating the Tail

The following information is a single lesson in a larger Tinkercad project. Check out this and more projects on Tinkercad.

Let's finish the body with a tail!

Instructions

  1. Place a pyramid on the workplane. This will be the first part of the tail that connects to the body. Scale the height up to about 60mm and make the width the same as the box used for the spine. Rotate the tail and move it into place.
  2. Make a new cube and turn it into a hole. Move it so it covers the top half of the pyramid. Group the box and pyramid together. The image shows how much of the pyramid to remove.
  3. Make a copy of the tail and move it further down.
  4. Rotate the copy so the bottom side is parallel with the ground. Ungroup it and delete the hole box
  5. Scale the height down so both parts of the tail are the same height where they connect.
  6. Continue to the next lesson.
