A guide to custom presentations

Step 1: Introduction

Have you ever been designing a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation, but you just cant seem to find the right layout to fit the situation? Sure you could go with one of the usual presets that come with the program, but those are typically overused and might not keep your audience interested. But fret no more, this Instructable will go over some basic changes that you can make to spice up your presentation, and also go over some simple, but effective custom designs.

Step 2: How to Change Features

While changing features is relatively simple in Microsoft PowerPoint, it can quickly become confusing if you are unfamiliar with the program. All of the changes that you will be doing to the formatting of the slide mill most likely be in the "Design" tab. The first step to designing your own slide will be to select a cookie-cutter style slide from the "Themes" section under the "Design" tab. After this step is where you get the freedom to personalize you presentation. You can expand the "Variants" section by clicking the expand button in the the bottom right corner of the selections. Once you do this, you will be presented with the options to change the color, font, effects, and background color of the presentation. The color, font and effects are pretty straightforward, just choose whatever suites your presentation the best. If you really want to spice things up, you can go Variants>Background Styles>Format Background. Here you can change the fill and design of the background.
