Step 1: What You need...

Picture of What You need...
1. 80-100watt Hot Glue Gun. I used a Bostik - HG-210
2. Air Compressor
3. Assorted copper fittings
4. Air compressor hose
5. Pipe cutting tool
6. Pipe bending tool
7. Teflon tape
8. Hose clamps

Step 2: Build it...

Picture of Build it...
The bottom line on this project is to get the 1/4" copper tubing from the tip of the hot glue gun nozzle to your air compressor. There are a variety of ways to do this. But this is how I did it.

First I bent a 6" piece of tybing to fit on the gun with the end right behind and next to the nozzle. Then I attached a valve to control the air flow. Followed by an elbow fitting and then the adpater that goes to a copper hose bib where I attatched the air compressor hose with a hose clamp. From there, another hose bib that goes to the pneumatic fitting that attaches to my air compressor.

Step 3: Hook it up...

Picture of Hook it up...
The entire assembly can be permanently mounted to the hot glue gun or just attched using zip ties which is what I did because I want to continue using the hot glue gun for normal use.

Step 4: How to Use it...

Picture of How to Use it...
Turn on your compressor and get around 30-50psi.

NOTE: Wear gloves because the hot glue can get on your skin and burn you.

While slowly opening the air valve on the assembly begin to slowly squeeze a tiny amount of hot glue out. It should start to spray in a steady stream. Move your hand around to spray the glue and form your cobweb. You can adjust the flow of both the air and the glue for different results. You've just made your own spiderweb glue gun! The glue will come off pretty easy as you can roll it up in a ball and remove it from whatever it was sprayed on. Have fun, be safe and Happy Halloween!

Cool. I covered a poor little kiddie with this!

As with all fake spiderweb decorations, please use only indoors, where wild birds and other wildlife, won't get entangled in them.

In the video: "I think it's amazing that a spider, using only his body, can create geometrically complicated, advanced shapes..."

Female spiders are the main web creators, not the males.
I am glad someone else noticed that too.

I think Kipkay should be an honorary pro member, as his I'bles are the most professional.

what would happen if i used an old fashion candy stick instead of glue stick ? something that resembles cotton candy i hope !!! ( preferably on a NEW glue gun)

someone try this for me !!
The candy stick wouldn't melt, but it would burn in the glue gun, unfortunately.

I sortof wanted to try this when I first saw it last year. . . . but this past weekend I saw a similar store bought model at Spirit Halloween Store; for only 50 US Dollars! Now I have no choice but to make one at home. I just hope it works without the seven dollar "web sticks".

this thing is lethal as glue stings you, and if you have one of those really expensive ones that deliver alot of hot glue, you better get scared.
Just because something stings doesn't mean it's lethal. Also, because of the compressed air rushing by the hot glue, it would be cool before it reaches its target, or at least, almost cool.
These are brilliant, i agree with ronmaggi :D
how would you make this portable?
battery cordless gulegun, and an air-matress pump
mini air tank and generator in a backpack? why anyways u gonna be spiderman and spray people in the face with hot glue?
