This is not what anybody'd call haute cuisine but it's damn tasty and a great way to use up leftovers, probably not healthy but as far as things to make out of food that's just lying around it's pretty good.

Step 1: Ingredients

crisp bake 007.jpg
Well you'll need:

- Some crisps, I used half a big bag of Co-op truly irrestible sea salt and balsamic vinegar
- Some sieved tomatoes, possibly substituted with any sauce you like, BBQ or tomato would work
- Some cheese, not very much
- Any other added condiments you like, I used some hot sauce to add some flavour...

You'll also need a baking tray, whatever size you have stuff to make for, I used a little one but you could use a full sized on and make a big dish for lots of people.

Step 2: Add crisps

Picture of Add crisps
The bottom layer of this is crisps, just filled in to put as many in as possible, keep a few crisps for later though.

Step 3: Sauce!

Picture of Sauce!
I used sieved tomatoes left over from making pizza, you could substitute with various things...

I also added some hot sauce, since I like adding it to everything, brown sauce or BBQ would also add nicely to the tomatoes

Step 4: Cheese it!

Picture of Cheese it!
I just sliced cheese for it because the cheesegrater needed washed and I wasn't in the mood.

Step 5: Crispy topping

Picture of Crispy topping
Crush some of the crisps up in the bag, you know the ones you kept aside? Sprinkle them on top of the cheese.

Step 6: Enjoy...

Picture of Enjoy...
Eh enjoy as a snack or possibly as a starter, this could fit in to a meal similarly to nachos...
This sounds so yummy but so bad for me. :P

It really is tasty, I imagine using the right chips/crisps/tortillas/crackers would be a way to make it healthy...

Looks great. Crisps (potato chips) are way better than Nachos in my opinion. L
killerjackalope (author)  lemonie5 years ago
I find they're muc more palatable with a lot of stuff but I do love my nachos...
Each to his own, but I'm personally more of an each way bet.
killerjackalope (author)  Kryptonite5 years ago
Depends on what's with them really...
They both go great just by themselves, but it can get a bit booring after a while.
killerjackalope (author)  Kryptonite5 years ago
I can't sit and eat a giant bag of crisps without dip or something, just not my thing... So adding stuff to stuff is a habit...
Ahh, I guess we go our separate ways here.
killerjackalope (author)  Kryptonite5 years ago
Ah each believes the other misguided... Flame war?
Too tired. I'll try tomorrow.

Hahaha, that's awesome, man! I didn't realize it was you...I was reading through it and thinking "this personality's funny, I wonder who this is," and I looked at the name et voila. Heh, nice addition, you've added a lot of new stuff since I last talked to you. How's it going? (We talked about your 'getting through it' instructable a year or two ago...not life-changing, but not a short conversation either).
killerjackalope (author)  Runeshai5 years ago
Ah things are up and down, been kicked outta my house, finished first year of tech, been in various states of employment... Eh mother disowned me but I found her tickets to the 1982 christmas dance in her hometown in a jacket she gave me and I laughed so hard I had to go round, vaguely fixing issues, turned out she didn't know much about me... Really it's been mad lately though, between job stuff, work experience and fixing up the house everyone's geting me out to parties... How about you then? Any big changes?
Woah. Jeez man. I moved out to Vancouver, west coast of Canada, went to school for VFX for film/tv, working on a portfolio now so I can start applying for jobs sometime in the fall. It's been a rough year and a half or so but hopefully things will start workin' out. But you definitely sound like you had it rougher. Hahaha, I just looked at the pictures again. Chips, cheese and tomato sauce, that's awesome, hahaha.
killerjackalope (author)  Runeshai5 years ago
Oh it's definitely tasty... Eh, sounds like we're both going through el rough patches, I'm not too worried though, there are some brilliant things going on, plus today just got sorted witha bunch of promotional work, which is finely paid to say the least... Hopefully the portfolio will shape up and get you some work, I'm actually in the process of throwing together a showreel for some work experience, which may lead to a job if my editing skils are pleasing enough, either way I need the experience...
Hah nice. What's the promotional work you're doing, what kind of work is it? Yea, it's really just a waiting game for footage at this point. That's the hardest part, finding good quality footage that's usable and people to work for on it. But it's happening, and the first job's usually the hardest to get, so I should do alright. Congrats on the work offer(s)!
killerjackalope (author)  Runeshai5 years ago
Ah it's just stuff like speaking to people, leaflets etc. or working events, dead easy stuff for £80 a day and up... Aye quality footage is a nuisance, I've been meaning to put together some little projects simply for my own stuff and showreel filling... One thing I like about tech is I've got access to professional camera equipment and editing tools which is nice...
Heh yea, gear is key. The school I went to got a Canon 5D right after I left. And a greenscreen and the Red Rock system. Would be cool to use that on some sort of personal project if I get the chance. What's your showreel consist of?
killerjackalope (author)  Runeshai5 years ago
Eh at the moment it's a couple of animations that aren't particularly amazing in subject matter but show me flexing my finalcut muscles with highly complex paths etc. couple of promos from fashion shows, which are pretty nice and I'm working on projects to add to it, I actually met the guy i'm doing work experience with on a project so he's not looking a full showreel, but working there will givve me the chance to build up a nicer showreel...
Yea, whatever work gives you a challenge is probably good work. Especially if you can use it to apply for the next job. Nice. Good luck, man.
killerjackalope (author)  Runeshai5 years ago
Aye, good luck job hunting, hopefully it'll go well...
Heh, yea, we'll see. Thanks.
canida5 years ago
Wow, excellent pictures - that looks disturbingly good for something that's likely to kill me. ;)
killerjackalope (author)  canida5 years ago
Thanks Canida, I'd say it wouldn't be too bad if you used healthy ingredients, but the sheer dirtiness of it makes it fun to eat...

Tasty and simple! (And no meat! Yay)

One correction for you, Step 4

"...the cheesegrater needed washed and I... " To
"...the cheesegrater needed to be washed and I..."

5*
killerjackalope (author)  Joe Martin5 years ago
Thanks joe! You can say it needed washed, it's still functional grammar...
One thing I forgot to to add, brilliant pictures! What camera do you use?
Got it! EOS 10D. I <3 EXIF data. They looks great, Food is so hard to photograph! I may have to pick your brains for a couple of food shooting tips once I get my D40.
killerjackalope (author)  Joe Martin5 years ago
Well I used to use a little olympus bridge camera for all 'ibles but it's out of commission so I'm using the SLR now, yeah EXIF data's handy, though usually I resize them before upload to shorten upload times but I'm at a mates on a fast connection so it's there. Someone did do a brilliant thing about getting the steam coming off food though mainly it's just getting in the right distance and good light, there's a window right above the oven and it was a good day so it's easy for me...
