Introduction: Crochet Apple Coasters

Here is a very easy Crochet Coaster to make and it would make a great decoration to any summer party. They are very absorbent using the Lion Cotton yarn. I have been crocheting for over 14 years and this took me 30 minutes to make one Apple Coaster so this pattern can be longer or shorter depending on you level of experience of crocheting. You can go to Lion Brand for help with crochet stitches. http://cache.lionbrand.com/cgi-bin/faq-search.cgi?store=/stores/eyarn&dictionaryOfAbbreviations=1

Step 1: What You Will Need:

Here is what I used to crochet these Coasters:
Lion Cotton yarn in the colors of Paprika,Sunflower,Avocado, Espresso and White,
Stitch marker,
Crochet Hook G/6-4.25mm,
Large-Eyed Blunt Needle,
Scissors

Step 2: Crocheting the Apple

To Crochet the solid color Apple and Apple Slice beginning by making the Magic Circle it will make the center nice and tight.  Just go to this You tube link and watch the video on how to begin the Magic Circle:http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=crochet+magic+circle&aq=0
if you do not know how to crochet using this method.
When you begin the magic circle make sure when you join the circle that there are 6 chain spaces.

Sl st in the next ch sp fasten off weave in ends
To make the Apple Slices Crochet Rnds 1 thru 7 using White. Then switch to Paprika (fasten off White yarn) and continue pattern by crocheting Rnds 8 and 9. Fasten off weave in ends. Use the Espresso yarn to stitch the  two dashes in the center of the apple slice which will be the seeds.

You can  make it a Golden Delicious Apple  by changing  the color of the Paprika yarn to the Sunflower yarn.

Step 3: Crocheting the Leaf and Stem

To Crochet the Leaf begin by using the Avocado Lion Cotton.

Ch 8 turn
sl st in the second ch from hook,

dc in the next ch sp and in the last 3 ch sp.
Ch 2 time this will count as the 5th dc insert your hook back into the first ch sp, yarn over pull through. Ch 2 times this will count as the first dc working on opposite side of foundation.
You will be working the last 7 sts backwards on the opposite side of the foundation.
Dc in the same ch sp of the last dc.
Then work 3 more dc across the next 4 ch spaces.
Yarn over and work the next st, hdc in the next ch sp,
sc in the next ch sp,
Sl st then fasten off leaving enough yarn to weave back into center of leaf and use tail end of yarn to sew leaf to apple. Use the pictures as a guide.

To crochet the stem use the Espresso Lion Cotton.
