6. Sc. in first 4 sts., inc. Repeat (36) sl. st. closed and leave a tail to use to sew to body

yes I do have 36 sts and I was doing 2 sc where it says sc inc then one dc instead of two. Thank you so much I have now.

I am having a problem with row 18 I only come up with 46 and not 48 why? I increase but still I come up 2 sts short. [sl st, sc, 2 sc, dc, 2 dc, sc, sl st ] is that right please help !

Okay, You should be doing [ Slip Stitch - Single Crochet - 2 Double Crochet in the same stitch - 2 Double Crochet in the same stitch - Single Crochet - Slip Stitch ] = 8 Stitches per every 6 Stitches which should come out to 48 stitches. Do you have 36 stitches when you start the row?

Thank you for Instructable! My son loved it :)

Awesome :D

Hello, in row 18 of the ghost I don't understand " inc. dec.". First I thought that it was increase and decrease, but if I do that, at the end of the row I can't complete the "cycle" ( i mean: sl. st.,sc., inc. dec., inc. dec., sc. , sl. st.) and I stil have 36 stitches.

What do I do?

In the middle there it should be inc. dc. (increase double crochet). Was that where the confusion is?

I want to make this for my son. I taught myself to crochet(partially from memory and some ypu tune to refresh) at the beginning of 2014. I made my kids halloween costumes and just made my daughter a new vday dress. My queation is do you think iy would be too hard for me to make the ghosts "reversible" instead of the blue cover???? Like make the bottomof the ghosts blue to be the head instead of matching the ghosts original colors......

I think you could make them reversable, but then you wouldn't be able to stuff them, so it would be more of a shell of a ghost. I think it could work, you would probably make a ghost of each color and then sew them together, but I would have to try it myself to see if it would work. If you try it out, you should comment again and let us know how it went!

***some you tube to refresh**** my mom had taught me when i was about 8, how to do a simple single crochet, so i just went from there.

The inc stitch is where you put 2 sc in one sc right? Also is step 19 the one that ruffles/scallops the edges?

Yes, 2 sc in one sc increases.

Step 18 and 19 both make the ruffle/scallop edge :)

Thank you!

OMG! They look sooo awesome! Thanks for sharing the picture!

This is the awsomeness crochet pac-man and ghosts I have seen

Thank you :) I'm thinking of doing another version of pac-man!

I can't print the pattern. What I'm I doing Wrong?

Only Pro members can download the PDF, but the pattern is all right there and you can copy and paste it if you are interested in printing it off.

I have a question: I followed your instructions but I keep getting just a half moon instead of the iconic pac-man. What am I doing wrong??? Please help!

Hmmm, I think maybe your yarn is smaller or your hook is. It looks like your stitches are much smaller than mine. I would say you should start it like my pattern, with the circle, and then with the first row after that, just go until you get the right initial shape. You might need to increase by another stitch and do 3 stitches in each one for that first row (after the magic ring) and see how that goes.

My daughter would LOVE to have these but doesn't know how to crochet. I can get her going, but she wants to know how to change pattern to create the ghosts too???
Yeah, I have the pattern for the ghosts in there too! Make sure you click view all at the top of the page and you can see all the steps. I show how to make the ghosts in Step 2 and the Blue Ghosts cover in Step 4 :)
I want to make this:)
I hope you do!
really cute!
Thanks :)
I've almost finished Pac Man! I can't wait to give the finished project to my brother for Christmas. :D
Your instructions are so easy to follow! This is the first crochet design I've been able to work from. Thank you!
That's awesome! I'd love to see how it turns out! It's nice to know my directions aren't too hard to follow :) Be sure to let me know if you run into anything that doesn't make sense!
love it so wish I could crotchet.
Thank you! It's not too hard. When I first started trying to crochet I just used one of those teach yourself to crochet books, and just keep doing it over and over again. And to learn the magic ring, which I can do better than normal straight crocheting, I actually watched this video :)

Good Luck :)
Sooooo cute!
Thank you :)
These guys are adorable!
Thanks! They are so cute to look at :)
I really really wish I knew how to read a crochet pattern. I want those!!
try this: http://www.instructables.com/id/how-to-read-a-crochet-pattern/
It's not too hard. I tried to write it out how I think others are written out. Let me know if there is something I can do to make it more clear!
So cute!
Thanks :)
OMG, Something this adorable should not exist! The internet will implode in of itself!
You are too kind :)
Any way I might be able to coerce a Crocheted Kirby out of you?
