Cubicle Planters, A Garden in Your Cube

These are a nice way to add a little life to your cubicle or office. They are simple metal boxes. I was inspired by another instructable:

Credit-Card Flower Box (Fridge Magnet)

I really like the magnet version, but there is not much light by my fridge, and I only had enough cards to make two. I wanted to make a cubicle version, so I decided to make some metal ones. These are very cheap to make.

Disclaimer:
My version of this project involves power tools, so if you are STUPID and likely to hurt yourself, go do something else.

Step 1: Tools and Materials

Tools:
-Necessary
Vise or clamp with parallel jaws
pliers
wire cutters
sharpie
butane torch or soldering iron
solder
ruler
rotary tool with abrasive cutting wheel (tin snips would probably work ok)

-Nice to have
c-clamp
vise grips or spring clamp
square
strong magnet

-Optional
Dog - good for company (choose one that is not rabid)

Materials:
light weight metal - you could use an old filing cabinet drawer(good thin steel).
small paperclips

I loved your instructable. I immediately went looking for credit cards, but not much luck. The plants came from other houseplants I have. This was a gift for my wife so she could have some green in her cube. Congrats on the fridge magnet win. Hey I am trying to get into the office supplies challenge, any idea how to add the keyword? I can't seem to find the option now.

I've also made a Office Supply instructable :D, but for some reason Instructables isn't showing it at the moment. Cheers, it was the first competition I'd ever won. I hope your wife likes her gift. lol, no doubt she has a forest cubicle now.

having aloe in the cubicle is a good idea b/c most of use prolly play with fire at work :) sweet

For small planters you could use tin sheet (from biscuit tin), it is thin enough to cut with tin snips or even those tough scissors, also solders very easily. Add creases to increase stiffness if/when required.
