In this lesson, you will learn to design a cool pair of personalized cufflinks!

Step 1: Let's Get Started!

We need something to build with!

Instructions

  1. Drag a cylinder shape to the Workplane.
  2. Place it in the area outlined in Orange.

Step 2: Let's Adjust the Height!

Just a small tweak!

Instructions

  1. Use the white dot, just below the black arrow, to scale the shape.
  2. Scale it smaller to a height of 3mm.

Step 3: Scale the Diameter Smaller

Keep up the good work!

Instructions

  1. Scale it smaller to a diameter of 10mm.

Hint: Don't forget you can zoom in for a closer look!

Step 4: Let's Move the Workplane

After placing a new workplane all new shapes will be placed on that workplane. Don't worry, you can always go back to your original workplane at any time!

Instructions

  1. Drag a workplane helper to the top of the cylinder.

Hint: You can reset the workplane by placing a workplane helper anywhere in the window, except over a shape. The shortcut for creating a workplane is to press W on the keyboard.

Step 5: Copy the Cylinder

Let's make a copy of the cylinder and place it ont he new workplane.

Instructions

  1. Copy and paste the cylinder.
  2. Lift the new cylinder to the orange workplane.

Hint: Pressing D on the keyboard, while a shape is selected, will "drop" or "lift" the lowest point of the selected shape(s) to the workplane

Step 6: Make It Smaller

This cylinder will become the stem of the cufflinks.

Instructions

  1. Scale the new cylinder to 3mm in diameter.

Hint: Remember you can adjust your Snap Grid to 0.5mm to have better control when positioning your shapes on the workplane

Step 7: A Bit Taller Perhaps?

Let's increase the height of the stem.

Instructions

  1. Scale the cylinder to a height of 10mm.

Hint: Remember you can adjust your Snap Grid to 0.5mm to have better control when positioning your shapes on the workplane

Step 8: Let's Move the Workplane

Lt's move the workplane.....again!

Instructions

  1. Drag a workplane helper to the top of the taller cylinder.

Hint: You can reset the workplane by placing a workplane helper anywhere in the window, except over a shape. The shortcut for creating a workplane is to press W on the keyboard.

Step 9: Add Your Decoration!

Now you are about to make the decorative part of the cufflink.

Instructions

  1. You can drag any shapes or letters to give a personal look.

Step 10: Congratulations!

You're done! Great job!
