would this work better if u put an offset weight on the motor so it produces more vibration

Yes, that would work, but that would decrease the music's frequency and that will make it sound unnatural...

This looks like a very fun project. It would be cool if you could upload a sound file.

Works well, is there any way to get the motor to spin? I took apart an xbox controller and am trying to get the vibration motors tospin with the sound.
Mar 7, 2008. 11:43 AMn0ukf says:
if the motor was spinning (DC powered) the vibrations from the spinning would overpower any audio from your music device. Those vibration motors in game controllers also have an eccentric weight to enhance the vibration as they spin, so you'd have to take that off the shaft before using it as a speaker.

i wanted to use them so they vibrate to the music, not as actual speakers

the sound signal is moving them anyway, you might need more volum if they're the vibrating ones...

I'm the guy who made the original motor speaker instructable: yeah yours is simplir, but whenever I tried it that way I didn't get very good quality, so that's why I used the IC.
