Cybertopian Handgun V2 (steampunk, cyberpunk, dystopian remix)

Picture of Cybertopian Handgun V2 (steampunk, cyberpunk, dystopian remix)
Ok, now, im gonna be blunt here, i built this handgun for two reasons.

1, to push my skills a little further by the use of brass cogs, and metal work, as well as a bit of woodwork

2, to sell, for lots and lots of money. *crosses fingers*

Ok, well the main problem with this build was all in my head, while i was building it i had to fight a desperate struggle not to become attached to it. As i new eventually, it would be gone (sold or binned)

Special honours go to my girlfriend Ranbow_Han, for encouraging me, and my fellow chatroom rat bumpus, who not only provided moral support, but also coined the term cybertopian.

Enjoy the read.
Check out the video, also, i am selling this exact model, available here Ebay Auction

The idea/story behind the gun, is that its a small antitank/aircraft weapon, which uses a plutonium radioactive core, and viscous liquid to fire a kind of radioactive napalm bullet. (think small fuel bomb)

i would love to see you fabricating something like this, but made completely out of wood, 'cept for the metal parts of course, i'm building a revolver/flintlock pistol, the revolver drum is actually made from a weedgrinder, wich i glued tight, i'm gonna try and make the thing rotate, but first i've got to make the stock a little more gentle to my hands

Where on earth do you get those hinges? I would really like to make this and they work perfectly, but I cant find them anywhere.

more specificly this looks like something the locust from the gears of war series would use
yeah i agree!!
Does it actually fire?
mechaninja4 years ago
it looks like Leonardo DaVinci's helicopter hit a Banshee...XD
seems like a pretty ergonomic handle, cant seem to find them though... any hints/clues?
looks like a dovetail saw handle.

it looks like something u would expect from gears of war

you realy like useing the vials dont you?
I would have left the old wood unpainted, it already looked so beautifully used!
Nevermind, i don't know why I thought that.... *iz dummy* I love the idea of using foam core to develop the shape, that makes everything else so much easier.

its good, youre good. it could have been great though, it has a little bit of a messy unfinished look to it, you should slow down and look at the little things.
gmjhowe (author)  smeata6 years ago
Well, this project was made in one evening, the idea behind it being to make one quickly to sell. Hence why its not as finished. It got dismantled for parts weeks ago.

fair enough
Kazeem smeata6 years ago
anyway, steampunk's meant to look like it's bits of old stuff.... which it usually is. It's always gotta be a little bit un-finished.
smeata Kazeem5 years ago
yeah, i guess it is ultimately about personal preference.
paint it black and dry brush the silver, if you put a small piece of wooden the part that folds down it would look more like a real weapon and less like a saw.
I suppose that you don't know where you can get another handle like that? it is VERY unique, and looks sweet, honestly.
oh, and: "do not look into the operational end of the device" ~portal
if you put a portal on the wall, and a portal on your face, would your body dissappear? idk its confusing... your body would come out the wall, but the portal would be on your head, so the portal would go through the portal and you would infinitely be coming out the wall portal? lol idk
(removed by author or community request)
But there is a flaw in the portal mythos; if a portal can't be placed on any organic matter it can't be placed on a wall, but even if a teeny weeny little bit won't stop the whole portal from forming any portal placed (most) anywhere will be severely fractured due to the bacteria unless on a wall that's constantly being sanitized or if it's somewhere where noting is suitable to live, correct? if i don't make sense, I'll be glad to clarify.
(removed by author or community request)
Then that would destroy all organic matter, no? I mean how could it differentiate between "good" and "bad" organisms? (Ain't i a kill-joy?)
in the game, glad0s makes a statement that it cannot be placed on living objects. however, she also states that portals cannot travel thru other portals, thus defeating your concept once again cowscankill.
It's an old wooden saw handle - try "curiosity" shops, flea markets, steam fairs, or just asking slightly elderly neighbours.

Slightly Elderly

You mean "Seasoned"
Kiteman bumpus6 years ago
No, I mean old enough that they won't ask why you only want the handles of their hand-made tools.

My grandad carved all the handles of his tools - saws, screwdrivers, planes, the lot, he even made the trunk they were all stored in. My dad inherited them, and they got a lot more use, but then some git broke into the garage and stole them.
byufan Kiteman6 years ago
what does it even do is it just a modle?
Kiteman byufan6 years ago
It is a costume prop.

Try googling for steampunk costume or steampunk accessories.
gmjhowe (author)  TheMadScientist6 years ago
i kno exactly where to get one from, EBAY thats where that one came from, i paid about £15/$30 for it, you can get more modern wooden handles cheaper, but i fell in love with the shape of this one.
shooby gmjhowe6 years ago
Ripped off, I picked one of these up for $5 US, with the blade of course, and nice brass screws.
gmjhowe (author)  shooby6 years ago
yeah, well, it would of cost me more than $25 of time to find one else where anywho
Arianovan5 years ago
Maybe instead of painting over with black paint you could, lightly sand off the silver leaf. If you went too deep you could just paint it black again. I don't know how well that would work. but its an idea.
it looks like a saw kinda (its a anti tank shooty saw of napalmy doom!)
gmjhowe (author)  naruto the ninja136 years ago
haha! maybe i should change to title?
lol ya =Þ
