DIY Air Hockey Mallets

This instructable finishes off the project DIY Air Hockey Table by describing how to make you own air hockey mallets!

This project saves money and also might be useful if there aren't any retail stores close to you.

Step 1 Requirements

COMPONENTS
I've tried to make making mallets as easy as possible, with the most common materials. You probably have these materials lying around:

Disc
A piece of plywood which is at least 13cm x 13 cm and is about 2 cm thick.

Handle
A PVC tube with an outer diameter of about 4 cm and a length of about 7 to 8 cm. You can consider the option of using the end of a broomstick, if it has the right diameter. This handle can be a little shorter.

Scratch preventive material
An old piece of circular sandpaper (those with soft backs). You can also use a piece of felt.

TOOLS
-Drill and Hole saw (with an outer diameter of 9.5 and 4 cm)
-Hack saw
-File and some sandpaper
-Close contact glue

nee ik ben niet zo geïntereseert in het
woon in belgië
maar mijn hersen vraagen wel af hoeveel je er aan hept besteet zonder blazer
maar ik vind het wel een geslaagde instructable

Zonder blazer heeft de tafel(blad) rond de 120 euro gekost. De blazer koste ongeveer 40 euro.

I think that Plexiglass would make great air hockey pucks when cut down to proper size.

what about a DIY puck? I guess it would be the same as the handle, but thinner and no PVC, right?

I'm not sure what material is suits this application the best.
