Hello everybody, that's my first instructable and I want to show you something new. I found yesterday an old, dusty '99 cpu and I started googling to find something to do with it. Unfortunately, I found only a tutorial for a CPU-Keychain (here is the link https://www.instructables.com/id/Processor-Keychain/), but... "Let's try something new, I've already a CPU-Keychain with an Intel P3". So that's how is started this fantastic wearable idea! =) Are you corious? Let's start!
Step 1: That's What You Need!
For this instructable you need:
- An old dusty CPU (cpu based on Socket T462 (AMD) or Socket 4; 423; 370 (Intel) work best);
- A fine strong card or a cutter to take out the large amount of pins;
- A drill with a 4mm bit to make an hole at your cpu dogtag;
- A grinder with a fine sand disk (for wood use);
- A Handsaw for iron;
- A bench vice to take your CPU during the final work;
- A dogtag to use as model (buy it with a necklace and a plastic topping)
- A black marking pen (a DVD marker works best);
- A LOT OF PATIENCE
Probably you're thinking: "What? All this tools for a dogtag!", but each tool is IMPORTANT =).
Step 2: Cut the Pin OUT!
Now we start! It's the most difficult part of this tutorial. Take a cutter, slide out a bit the blade and start bending each pin until they break out. It's simple, but you'll need a LOT OF PATIENCE ("LOT OF PATIENCE" was in the tutorial list, right?). Ok, this step takes at least 2 hours, so when you're doing this you can listen some music, talk with a friend or your parents or drink your favourite drink (or a beer, if you are 18 years old in Italy or 21 in some countries such as USA). If you feel some pain at your finger, stop immediately and take a break. Remember this:

When you won the PIN's resistance, use a fine marking pen and a dogtag model to shape our old CPU.
Step 3: Now You Need to Be Accurate
WARNING: FROM THIS STEP, IF YOU ARE A KID, PLEASE ASK AN ADULT TO HELP YOU. IT CAN BE DANGEROUS!
Now take your grinder and set it at the lowest speed (sometimes the lowest speed is indicated with 1 or 2). Start your grinder and smooth the pin bases.
QUICK TIP: WHEN YOU'RE USING THE GRINDER, USE PROTECTION GLASSES TO AVOID ANY CHIPPINGS.
After that, clean the smoothed part with air and go to the next step.
Step 4: Now DRILL, SAW, GRIND and We Finish!
In the previous step, you smoothed your CPU. Now take it and lay on a plain surface. Bring your drill, and set your drill bit (at first test if your bit pass trough the necklace hole of your dogtag model) and use the lowest speed. If the speed is not settable, please consider to take a break during the drilling. It will help to avoid the breaking of your cpu.
QUICK TIP: DURING YOU STOP THE DRILL, CLEAN OFF THE DUST FROM YOUR CPU.
Now bring your cpu to the bench vice and block it, bring your handsaw and cut out the two columns in the left side and in the right side. After that, use the grinder to smooth the left side and the right side until you see a linear smooth, and grind all the vertices until them overlap with the previous marks. At last, you can grind (paying attention at the guide lines) each side to smooth it.
WATCH OUT: BE FOCUSED, BE ACCURATE, BE PROFESSIONAL!
And we finish, bring your necklace and the plastic topping and apply them to your work.
Step 5: The CPU-Dogtag Is Yours!
Good, the CPU-Dogtag is yours. You can wear it and it's a good charm. Good Job! =)
QUICK TIP: YOU CAN WASH IT WITH WATER AND, IF YOU HAVE SOME TRACES OF THERMAL PASTE ON THE CPU DIE, USE A COTTON SWAB WITH ALCOHOL TO BRUSH AWAY IT.
