Introduction: ★DIY LEATHER WALLET★

I made this classic bifold leather wallet from scraps leather.

It is easy to do but time consuming.

I want to thanks https://www.instructables.com/member/grandmaof13/ for the leather instruction she gived me.

Step 1: WHAT YOU NEED

you need:

  • leather;
  • scissors or cutter;
  • big needle and hammer, or special leather sewing tool;
  • waxed thick thread and needle.

Step 2: CUT THE LEATHER

Cut the leather like in the picture: 2 bigger pieces, and three or for smaller for cards.

Take measurement from money and cards.

Step 3: FOLD LEATHER

Place the two large piece together, fold them in half, and cut away the piece of leather that stick out from the central piece of leather.

Step 4: CUT a SMALL PIECE AWAY

Cut a small half circle away from the bottom of the central piece, exactly in the middle.

It will help to fold the wallet better.

Step 5: MAKE HOLES

Place the single card holder on the bottom right of the inside wallet leather piece.

Make some small holes with the big nail and the hammer all along the top part of the single card older, and in the inside large piece of leather.

(please look at the photos because I know that my english is a bit weird : ))

Step 6: SEW IT

Start sewing it from the outside, and when you reach the inside edge go back, doing the opposite stitch of the one you did before. Close it with 3 knot at the end.

Step 7: DO MORE HOLES

Place the double (or triple if you prefer) on top of the inside piece of the wallet and do some holes in the right side of them and on the big piece of leather.

Them place also the outside main leather part of the wallet and make more holes on the bottom part of the card holders and the left side of them, all the way to the top of the wallet.

Step 8: SEW THEM

Start from the inside part of the card holders, sew them to the inside main part of the wallet.

Add the outside main part of the wallet and sew the rest, all the way to the top of the wallet (I forgot to do the last part and I end up doing it ad the end).

When you reach the top go back, doing the opposite stitch of the one you did before.

Secure the thread at the end with a triple knot.

Step 9: DO THE OTHER SIDE

On the right side, make the right inside part of the wallet match the outside part.

Tape it together.

There is going to be a fold in the middle of the wallet, that will allowed it to close.

Make more holes on the bottom part of the card holder and on the right side of it, all the way to the top of the wallet.

Step 10: SEW AGAIN

Make a triple knot on the thread, and leave the knot in the inside part of the wallet.

Start to sew from the bottom inside part.

Go all the way to the top, go back (always with opposite stitches) all the way from where you started.

Assure with a triple knot in the inside part of the wallet, near the starting knot (you need to turn the wallet inside out ).

Step 11: DONE!

Done! It take a wile to do it but I' m really happy with the result!

And the leather just look nicer and nicer over time.
