I wasnt able to make it like that (putting my arms into the sleeves after didnt give the cat enough room in the sling). However, if I dont put my arms into the sleeves and just wear it arround my neck it works fine.

I built a standing desk (pictured behind me) and I lost the ability to have Drake in my lap while I work, so this helped solve that problem. Thanks!

Just wondering if anyone has actually made this . . . I have some questions:

(1) When I make the cut, should I cut vertically up the back of the shirt? or the front?

(2)
It looks like she is wearing the shirt/sling, but I'm not sure how
this works. Do you put your arms through so the slit is up the back and
then pull the ends around to the front, tie, and slip over your head?
or is she not actually wearing it?

Sorry for all the questions, I keep looking at the pics but I'm just not getting how it works.

Thanks for your help!

P.S. I have an old cat who wants to be held ALL THE TIME, so if I can get this to work it will be great!!

It's kind of like a stylized apron/smock, but instead of tying the ends into a bow behind your back, you take the ends and tied them in a bow up over your neck. Kind of like if you put on a zip up sweatshirt backwards, and then brought the bottom zipper part around to your front and attempted zipped it up part of the way.

The easiest way I think I can describe it is like this:

1) Cut vertically up the back of the too large shirt, all the way from bottom to top.

2) Slide your arms into the shirt, which is now more like an apron/smock/doctor's scrubs.

3) Take the two newly cut bottoms of the shirt, (where you started the cut, the back of the shirt, in the middle), pull those around to your front side (essentially, this part of the shirt will be inside out, but it doesn't really matter), tie them together, then slip it over your head kind of like a toga.

I hope my stumble of a description helped!!

Excellent DIY presentation! Perfect way to upcycle old tees. Awesome. Do some more crafts for me ?

Omg thank you! I have a wee kitten who wants so snuggle but I need to work. This will make cuddling her and actually being productive (as much as one can be when one is carrying a teeny, adorable kitten in a sling) a lot easier!

I first commented on this in April 2014. I loved it then and even more so now!
I favorited this ible at the time, but before I made this I forgot about it. :(
My 'Little Man' chihuahua has congestive heart failure. While sad, I am grateful that I know. I am making what time he has left as good as it can be.
That is where this ible comes in. I remembered it, and because I had it favorited all I had to do was look at my favorites - guess what I made - and where Little Man is right now!!!
Thank you again for this ible! It is making what time he has left better. Since all Little Man wants is to be held, I can do it comfortably for both of us!!!!!

Oh my goodness thank you! Rose_adamaj I am so happy to know that this helped you, if this comment comes from a different account it is still me, it's just my newer more updated account. Again thank you so much for letting me know!

I found a medium men's tee for $2.50 at the local Grocery Outlet, made this in less than a minute, and am wearing my tiny new puppy now! She's snug and sleeping and is obviously adorable. Huzzah for two-handed typing! :)

I love this idea! I am hoping to adopt a small kitten very soon and I'd like to be able to keep and eye on her and love on her at the same time.

This is adorable... I'm pretty sure my cats won't agree with me, but because I'm a terrible cat-mommy, I'll make one just the same. :)

Wow what a great idea! LOVE IT!!! You made it look so simple! My kitty Misty could have used one of these long ago. She got outside on accident and panicked and was so terrified by another cat she was stuck "out in the wild" for three horrible weeks. When I finally got her back in she was so scared she wouldn't leave my side or lap - and I thought about getting a little sling for her! :) This is too cute!

This would also work well for picking veggies in the garden...perhaps you could enter a garden coñtest, too. hug your kitty for me, smile.

I just voted for this! Simple, easy, a 'why didn't I think of this' diy!!! My chihuahua has been searching everywhere for something like this. I have tried various things, sewing, cutting, sewing & cutting some more to no avail. My 'Little Man' thanks you!!!

horseygal2014 (author)2014-03-18

It's like a " I'm going to the vet, the cat keeps hiding, I can't hold him while multi tasking" sort of a thing

Oh man, I have a feeling my cats are going to hate me very soon, haha.
