Introduction: DIY Raspberry Pi UPS

About: Electronics, programming, tips, tricks and more ... whatever crazy ideas I have.

In this instructables I will show you how you can build your own uninterruptable power supply. It is designed for the use with a Raspberry Pi or other small devices, which will draw up to 3 Amps @ 5 Volts. So even a Raspberry Pi with an external harddrive (e.g. WDLabs PiDrive) can be used with this UPS.

Step 1: Watch the Video

First you will need to watch my videos about the UPS. There I will go over some design features and how the circuit essentially works.

Step 2: Order All Components

In the attached picture you will find all the needed parts to build this UPS. Such a list of parts is also called BOM - Bill Of Materials. Most of the parts should be available at LCSC, so go check them out!

Step 3: Create the Circuit

I've attached the schematic of the circuit for you. With the help of the BOM you can now create the circuit yourself. If you want the circuit to be more professional try using an EDA (like KiCad) and design your own circuit board. Once your'e done go checkout JLCPCB to get some cheap PCB's.

Step 4: Done

Yay, you have just created your own uninterruptable power supply!
