DIY Victoria's Secret Ruched Hiphugger Panties

Victoria's Secret Ruched Hiphugger Panties are one of my favorite underwear styles. They give a simple hip-hugger or boy-short pattern a cute twist. I will teach you an easy way to make your own ruched panties. The pair I made for this tutorial is for ruched-front hip-hugger panties, but this also works to make a ruched-back panty, thongs, bikini's, etc...

Step 1: Materials

Main Materials

1. Lycra/Cotton Fabric Blend - about 30" x 20" worth
2. Elastic - thin piece of elastic (mine was 1/8" width) and 1.5" in length. The length also depends on how much rouching you want.
3. Sewing Machine (I used a serger as well, but this can all be done on a sewing machine)
4. Stretch Needle (for sewing machine) - this is necessary for properly sewing lycra/spandex fabrics

Minor Materials

1. Thread
2. Needle - for sewing by hand
3. Pins

You'll want to get some elastic around the top so they don't get progressively looser whilst wearing and fall down. Insert it under the folded down top with zig zag stitch.

Actually, one of my favorite things about these undies is that they DON'T have elastic, so nothing catches, pinches, or digs. I've had mine for several years, and they still stay up just fine, so I think the quality of the stretch fabric is the biggie.

Yeah I was gonna ask... "free size" doesn't necessarily fit everybody. An indication of what size range the PDF pattern is good for would be nice.
