Introduction: DIY Shaving Cream on the Cheap

A simple and natural homemade shaving cream that leaves your skin smooth and silky without using preservatives or synthetic ingredients that may dry or breakout your skin. Easy to make at home with only a few steps.

Materials needed:

1/3 Cup Coconut Oil

1/3 Cup Shea Butter

2 Tablespoons of Almond Oil (can substitute with other oil)

2 Tablespoons Unscented Castile Soap

2 Tablespoons of Baking Soda

Any Essential Oil of your choice (Optional)

2 vitamin E capsules (Optional)

Microwavable bowl

Electric Mixer

Wooden Spoon

Sealed Storage Jar

Step 1: Melt Coconut Oil and Shea Butter

Place the Coconut oil and Shea butter into the bowl and microwave for about 40 seconds or until melted together in a liquid form.

Step 2: Mix Oil

Stir in the oil of your choice. I prefer Almond oil because of its moisturizing properties but you can substitute for many other oils. Some other popular oils are Olive oil, Palm oil, Jojoba oil and Grapeseed oil.

Step 3: Freeze

Once the mixture is well mixed, place bowl in freezer for 10 minutes or until the mixture has solidified.

Step 4: Add Fragrance

Take mixture out of freezer. Add the scented essential oil and the soap. I choose to add lavender essential oil because of the benefits of reducing dry skin that sometimes happens after shaving.

Step 5: Whip It Good!

Once the mixture has set, add the baking soda and the contents of the vitamin E capsules, this will help prevent signs of aging and increase cellular regeneration, then whip it! Whip it good! Use the electric mixer to mix materials together until creamy and smooth, almost like cupcake icing. Usually taking about 5 to 6 minutes.

Step 6: Store

Use the spatula to scoop your shaving cream into your choice of airtight container.

When using this product always keep the container sealed and store in a cool, dry place. Since we used natural products there is a chance of molding.
