hye i was learned that if u  expose a gard drive to air it wil be dameged! how did u open it and then it worked?

If you open a hard drive outside of a class three clean room, you'll get dust in it, which will cause it to wear out faster. It will still work just fine for quite a while usually though. Opening them up and replacing parts is one method for recovering data off of failing drives.

the drive is already dead

as long as you don't touch the disks, the drive will be just fine. whoever told you about the air damaging the drive if opened simply didn't want you to do it, or forgotten to mention dust particles in the air. have a good one.

Honestly, it would help if you read (or reread) the 'ible.

He is not using the hard drive. He is merely using the HDD enclosure to house a hub with USB flash drives in it.

yes tyler9613 is right. He is only using the HDD case for the enclosure.

This is disappointing as I was expecting to see the actual hard drive being used and converted, however it still makes for a cool looking flash drive :D

thanks for the tut!

Granted this can be kind of a pain where you sit if you don't have a small enough Torx driver...
