Picture of DIY: Water Drinking Schedule

Stay healthy by creating a water drinking schedule at work. All it takes is a few office products! Either follow the steps below or watch our video here.

Step 1: Gather Supplies

To create your water drinking schedule, you'll need the following materials.

  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Marker
  • Clear Water Bottle (It needs to be clear so you can see how much you need to drink.)

Step 2: Cut Tape & Place on Bottle

Cut your tape into three pieces. Place the tape on your water bottle evenly (like pictured).

Step 3: Label Tape

Label the tape with your marker. Make sure to drink your water at the following times in the order shown.

  1. Drink water to the bottom of the 1st tapeline by 8 AM
  2. Drink water to the bottom of the 2nd tapeline by 9 AM
  3. Finish all the water by 11 AM

Happy hydrating! If you feel you need more water throughout the day, create a second water bottle for the afternoon work shift.

The human body has a wonderful mechanism for scheduling when to drink. It's been evolved over millions of years and helped our ancestors survive and thus prolong our species. So what is this wonderful mechanism? It's called "thirst" and it tells you when you need to drink. All of this bunkum about hydrating is based on a scientific report by an American scientist who reported after his research that "the average human adult needs to consume 2.5 litres of water per day". What the bottled water industry fail to mention is what he said next: "...and most of that is contained in the food that we eat". Drinking bottled water from plastic bottles is unnecessary but also very bad for the environment and for sea life as much of the waste plastic ends up in the sea and poisons sea life. STOP BUYING BOTTLED WATER. It's a total confidence trick. If you must "hydrate" drink tap water.

I agree with you, but this post (at least the second half) doesn't belong here. Yes, you need to drink when you are thirsty and making a water drinking "schedule" is not necessary, but some people like to do it because it makes them feel better and helps with headaches and such. This post says nothing about bottled water! They are using a REUSABLE water bottle and, therefore, HELPING the environment. I agree that people need to stop using plastic water bottles, even if they recycle them, but your ranting about it has no place on this post. I think this method is very creative and helpful. I look forward to using it.

Thanks for posting! It is important to remind everyone to stay green as well as listen to ones body when it comes to thirst. We appreciate both of your thoughtful commentary and the add it brings to our post!
