I make these things... They're really cool to make and use! I've made a few already and still have them. The first one I've ever had made was a small but powerful (for its size) backpack audio system using a 2.1 Ch amplifier with an output of 5W RMS for the Sub and 1.5W RMS for the satellites. It sounded okay had some noticeable audible low bass but was mostly mid-ranged kind of bass (it at least shook the backpack fairly hard)

My next build will happen this year in mid-October and it will be using Logitech's Z506 amplifier module which has an impressive sound power output of 150 Watts total power which will be powered by one Milwaukee M18 54W/hr (or higher W/hr) red lithium 18Volt rechargeable battery. This build is gonna be way much more powerful than any other build I've ever made. The Subwoofer in this build will be a SEALED 270Watts RMS 5.25" extreme Long-Throw High-Excursion Woofer (I've took from an unused RCA Audio System) Which will take place in to a large backpack and will weigh around 20Lbs total. (From the heavy 74 Oz. [4.6 Lbs.] Subwoofer, Batteries, Amplifier Module, and speakers, etc.) I know how to make these things and I enjoy using them. Total system build cost: about $250-$300. Sorry, I don't sell these that I make (mainly because of the way I make them it's very dangerous and power hazardous to pros alike). One thing cool about making a powerful backpack "boompack" is that you can enjoy powerful loud rumbling BASS wherever you go and nobody else really can get them (only if they know how to make one) because major Manufacturer companies don't make these things.

What if I can't get or don't have speaker mounts for my speakers? I got my speakers from a Audiovox radio/CD player. The speakers were in their own thing and connected by speaker cables. They didn't have a speaker mount.

sorry for taking a while to respond but you can make a speaker mount out of plywood buy cutting it with a saw to fit the size of your speakers. or you can also jus glue them to the fabric of your backpack

hi, this was the instructable i was looking for i already got this amp (http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-Home-Hi-Fi-Audio-Amplifier-Amp-Motorcycle-mp3-Kit-/170383475331?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item27aba58283#ht_4079wt_905) which look just like the one you have i still don't know which of these 2 batteries would work better with the amp 1 http://cgi.ebay.com/DC-12V-Li-Ion-Battery-Pack-4-LCD-Video-Monitor-/350471628039?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5199bca507#ht_3836wt_905 2 http://cgi.ebay.com/12V-10AA-Battery-Pack-LCD-Video-Monitors-/200619591355?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eb5dc06bb#ht_3691wt_905 and i would like to know how can i make it with a 6" subwoofer and 2 4" speakers
djvicster130 (author) in reply to gbmaster137Jun 28, 2011. 6:55 PM
for the battery if ur running tight on money i would recommend this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/12V-DC-Rechargeable-Li-ion-Battery-CCTV-Cam-1800mAh-/120599449060?pt=AU_Gadgets&hash=item1c14498de4

or this one

http://cgi.ebay.com/12V-DC-Rechargeable-Li-ion-Battery-CCTV-Cam-4800mAh-/250670998641?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a5d27e471

for connecting the 2 speakers n 1 sub you may jus have to mickey mouse it and connect 1 speaker and a sub to the right channel and connect the other speaker by itself to the left channel.
axeman911 says: Jun 6, 2011. 7:36 PM
awesome idea, i made one but with a sub woofer hooker up to an amp and then two are other regular speakers with it so its like a home theater surround sound

hi, i am looking for a mini amp and i found this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Mini-Hi-Fi-Audio-Amplifier-Amp-Motorcycle-mp3-ipod-GIFT-/250739126220?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item3a61376fcc#ht_3862wt_1230

but the only problem seems on the back it dosen't look like there is any place to solder the audio wire like you did in your tutorial. would this amp i am looking at work?
djvicster130 (author) in reply to esmith4Mar 19, 2011. 1:34 PM
Yes that amp will work.. It's the same amp that I have the only difference is that that one is the newer version of the amp
esmith4 in reply to djvicster130Mar 19, 2011. 2:48 PM
also how do you recharge the 12 volt battery when it is out of power. also how long does it last?
djvicster130 (author) in reply to esmith4Mar 19, 2011. 3:20 PM
You can use a car battery charger or a trickle charger will work too.. But if you don't have ether you can always use a 12v ac/dc power adapter n jus cut the wire n strip it n connect it to the leads on the battery while charging
esmith4 in reply to djvicster130Mar 19, 2011. 4:10 PM
the batteries i found seemed a litle sketchy as far as actually connecting them to the amp. will this unit work?

http://cgi.ebay.com/12V-10AA-Battery-Pack-LCD-Video-Monitors-/350447791954?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item519850ef52#ht_3663wt_907

it says its for LCD monitors but it look like it would work fine with anything that is 12 volt
djvicster130 (author) in reply to esmith4Mar 19, 2011. 5:39 PM
If u use that battery pack it will be perfect because the amp use that same style connector to power it
clowsrock says: Feb 25, 2011. 11:10 PM
hey everyone i just got the same exact amp off of dinodirect.com, its a UK company so it takes about 2 weeks to get your stuff and it cost 20$
felixblake3 says: Feb 25, 2011. 7:32 AM
WAT SIZE SPEAKER DID YOU USE
djvicster130 (author) in reply to felixblake3Feb 25, 2011. 8:13 AM
i used 5x7 pioneer speakers
gordoschaffer says: Dec 19, 2010. 7:47 PM
would you need more battery power if you where to put a sub in the backpack? and where did you get the mini amplifier?
djvicster130 (author) in reply to gordoschafferDec 31, 2010. 12:10 AM
it all depends on the size of the sub.. the amp i got from ebay.. its a 2 channel amp so you can run say a 6 inch computer sub on one channel and run a tweeter or any speaker for your vocals on the other channel.. you can runn a 12v battery but keep in mind the high the amp hours on the battery the longer it will last playing music..
andygonzalez says: Dec 9, 2010. 7:04 PM
hey, thats pretty awesome. would you mind telling me where you got the battery?
djvicster130 (author) in reply to andygonzalezDec 9, 2010. 8:10 PM
the battery i got i actually got it from a yardsale.. but they sell those batteries at any hobby store.. you can also go to a hardware store and get a 12v battery that is used as a backup for house alarms.. and another place i found usefull is ebay they have some 12v rechargeable batteries aswell that are compact.. anyother questions jus feel free to ask.. n let me kno if u decide to make one..
gamecube246 says: Oct 3, 2010. 6:15 PM
Where would i be able to get a compact 12v Battery like yours?
djvicster130 (author) in reply to gamecube246Oct 3, 2010. 8:48 PM
you can try going to a local hobby store and check what they got to offer.. but that might cost you around $40, you could sheck on ebay as well last time i checked they had a decent battery for around $15
