YOUR DESIGN IS VERY GOOD, not easy, but do...able. Perfect for the doxie. Thank you so much for sharing. After studying the photos several times I think I can do it. I think I can, I think I can..I CAN. How clever. Thanks, again.

This design looks like a homemade imitation of our Eddie's Wheels cart, and we are flattered and Eddie says it's the best one yet. If your dog likes this cart and does well in it, consider ordering a real Eddie's Wheels cart- which has a padded saddle, an opening yoke and is warranted for the life of the dog. Disabled dachsies love their carts and do well in them - our disabled dachshund has enjoyed her wheels for over 6 years, and rules our 4 dog household, which include a pitbull, a rott and a doberman.

unfortunatly, not everyone can afford the high price that your carts are selling for.

There is no doubt that a cart really improves the quality of life for the dog that is paralized. Always wait until crate rest has been completed as many dogs recover.

The most important thing is to make sure your dog has had time to heal before any use of a cart. Many general vets are not experienced in treating disc disease (ruptured discs). They don't emphasize the need for 8 weeks of proper crate rest. http://www.dodgerslist.com/ is *the* place to get the information you need to care for a dog with back problems.

whoa whoa... I have nothing invested with Eddies Wheels but she was just offering some suggestions. This company helps alot of folks - yes, the carts are expensive but are much more moderate than other companies. I recently contacted them to help out with a Great Pyr rescue group that needs cart for a rehab for a rescue that has yet to be placed in a home and they have offered a free used cart. They do have pure motives in mind so please be kind. Your cart design is helping lots of folks with daxies in trouble. Anyone with a homemade cart design for bigger dogs?

joelsprayberry, we would like to make this and have a couple questions. How are the side rods attached to the semicircle that goes over the back? And what is the semicircle made of before you padded it? Our doxie is a tweenie (between a mini and standard - about 14 lbs.) the 8" tires look like they may be too tall for her - your opinion?

Thank you for doing this. Happy will benefit greatly from this and the price to do this is in my range. This will not only help her with mobility but I believe will boost her spirits as well. This is truly awesome!
