Introduction: Dancing Spaghetti

A simple solution to moving pices of spaghetti from bottom to surface

Step 1: Materials You'll Need

You need the following materials for this experiment:

1- Vinegar

2- Some piece spaghetti with 2 – 3 cm

3- Baking soda

4- Some water

Step 2: How Does Works?

Pour about 2 teaspoons of baking soda in a glass (a long one is better), then add some water (leave some empty space in glass ) and stir well

Step 3: Add Spaghetti

Then add 3 or 4 pieces of the spaghetti. You can see the pieces precipitate

Step 4: Watch the Result

After that add some vinegar (or lime juice) and stir again. Now you see that the pieces of the spaghetti comes to the surface of the solution and after a while goes back to the bottom, and they goes up and down frequently

Step 5: Why Is This Happening?

Carbon dioxide resulting from the reaction carry the pieces of the spaghetti to the surface of water and after a while due to bursting of the bubbles ,the pieces of the spaghetti goes back to the bottom
