They are probably the best Oreo cakes I have ever tried. A lot of cake's that I have experimented with before are like a vanilla cake with bits of Oreo in them, which didn't really give them enough Oreo flavor. But these were a lot better. I used a dark chocolate fudge cake mix instead of just a regular chocolate cake mix, which went really well with the cookies and gave the cakes just a little more flavor. So, in this recipe there is Oreo's in the cake, in the frosting, and at the bottom is a Oreo surprise. That's right, you put a whole Oreo at the bottom of the cake. The cookie stays firm, which makes it a little interesting to eat against the soft cake, but it actually gave a really yummy crunch. Overall this is an amazing cake. Super full of flavor and so fun!! Enjoy :)
Estimated Cooking Time: About 25 to 30 minutes

Ingredients
1 package Oreo Cookies, regular size
1 package Mini Oreo Cookies, for decoration (optional)
1 package chocolate cake mix (mix according to directions on box)
8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1/2 cup butter (1 stick), room temperature
3 3/4 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
cupcake liners

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix packaged cake mix according to directions (do not bake). Line cupcake tins with liner, place a regular size Oreo cookie in the bottom of each liner. Take 1/2 of remaining cookies and chop coarsely and add to cake mix. Fill the cupcake tins. Bake for 15 minutes (or according to box directions). While cupcakes are baking make the frosting.

Cream together butter and cream cheese. Add vanilla, then add powdered sugar slowly until blended well. Chop remaining regular-sized Oreos very fine (I put the cookies in the food processor instead of trying to chop them up super fine and it worked out really well). Add to frosting. After cupcakes have cooled frost and decorate with Mini Oreos.

Hi, i have stupid question. What "1 package Oreo Cookies, regular size" means? Like, how many oreos i need? Im fom diffrent county and we have packages with 4, 8, 16 cookies :D

The 'Regular size' line is about the size of the oreos, not the size of the packet, to distinguish from the mini Oreos being used for decoration. In the US Oreos are almost always sold in packs of about 45, but for over here I would recommend 2 packs with 16 cookies in because a regular batch of cake mix would probably make about 16 cupcakes once you accounted for the fact the cookie in the base displaces some of the mix. You would need the second pack to grind up for inclusion in the cake mix and the icing (though the implication now I reread the above is that they are using all 45 in this, so you might want 3 packs and see how it looks as you go along).

Hey, these are amazing!
You might want to edit your explanation. Cakes and Oreos are plural, not possessive, so they should not have apostrophes. Just sayin'.
Everyone loved these, by the way.
OMG!!! Looks amazing!

Death by Oreo, or any other cupcake, is a sad, but tasty way to go.
I've made these before. they are super yummy. Also try mixing crushed oreo's w/ cream cheese. roll into quarter sized balls and chill in the fridge. Easy and popular treat for parties.

My icing came out too sweet, I'm wondering if I read the recipe wrong. Is it 3 and 3/4 cup powdered sugar or 3 x 3/4 cup powdered sugar?

The cupcake was good, but the frosting was terrible. Way too runny! Tried to thicken it, and it just wouldn't thicken! Looks terrible with runny frosting
Adding more powdered sugar will really thicken it! I made it they came out good! I love this recipe! ;0
I found adding more icing sugar worked for mine, as it was a bit too soft for my taste as well. Did you melt your butter, or just use soft? Melted butter won't emulsify with the sugar, but absorb it, making gloop.
I've made these four separate times now, and it is a family and work favorite; following the recipe the frosting has been just perfect every time .... Maybe your cream cheese or butter were spoiled, or not at room temperature ... This frosting recipe has become a favorite here!

I have the Duncan Hines Devil's Food premium cake mix, do you think that'll work with this recipe? These look absolutely amazing! Can't wait to try to make them myself.
could you use mint oreo's?
that's what I'm going to do! and add a few drops of mint extract to the cake! and green coloring to the icing :D

These are the most delicious cupcakes I have ever made! Everyone that tried one absolutely loved it :) The best part is, they were fun & easy to make lol ... Thanks for the recipe! (For those of you having difficulty making the frosting from scratch, I bought the already made Pillsbury Whipped Supreme cream cheese frosting. I blended in the Oreo cookie crumbs with it in a separate bowl & it tasted delicious)
