Ok this is so easy it is going to blow your mind. This is a nice way to spice up your plain dishes. I used it next to some lemon tarts and it really gave it a nice appearance.
Materials:
1) A sharp paring knife
2) 1 fruit per rose
3) Cucumber peel or parsley/ cilantro leaves, kale is an option too.
Wash your fruit or veggie and dry in well. Starting from the top of the fruit, start to peel the skin off with your paring knife. You just want the top part. Go around in a spiral motion going clockwise. Peel all the way down and set your fruit to the side. Now, take the skin and from one end, start rolling it. You want to keep it sort of tight but not too tight to break it. Roll it all the way up and flip it over. You are done!! You can garnish it with some "leaves" using parsley/cilantro; kale; or cucumber skin. With the cucumber skin, you want to slice it off in pieces about 2" wide, then you can use your knife and cut out your leaves into the shape that you desire. Suggested fruits/ veggies for your use: lemon, orange, tomato, and eggplant.
Answers for the Make-to-Learn Youth contest:
What did I make?
I made a decorative rose out of lemon skin.
How did I make it?
I got the idea from a video on youtube. I used it to decorate some lemon tarts that I made. I worked with my sister.
Where did you make it?
I made it in my kitchen at home
What did I learn?
I learned how to make a very beautiful of the peel of lemon.
This really looks beautiful.
But it would be useful with pictures describing the how-to. That's the vital part. Not the before, not the after, but the middle part. That's what instructables is about and that part requires more than text.
Mentioning that you ripped the idea off a youtube-video is delightfully honest but still weird and a bit halfhearted since you don't bother to post that video link and give the author full credit.

Hope my criticism doesn't come over too harsh - keep on DIY'ing, musicalsoul!
Thanks for the advice! I will try and make another one and picture each step:)
Wow, nice job. The newly added pics are pretty good, making this instructible even better!
Thanks:)
Thank you so much for sharing this! If the one I make turns out as beautiful as this I will share a picture! Have a splendorous day!
sunshiine
