Introduction: Del Monte’s Pumpkin Bread
This is a long-time favorite recipe for Del Monte’s Original Pumpkin Bread recipe, which first appeared on their pumpkin can label since 1969.
3 cups sugar
1 cup salad oil
1 16-ounce can pumpkin
4 eggs, beaten
3 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
2/3 cup water
Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder, nutmeg, allspice cinnamon, and cloves. Add to the pumpkin mixture alternately with the water. Mix well after each addition.
Pour into 2 well greased and floured 9 x 5-inch loaf pans. Bake at 350ºF. for 11/2 hours, until loaves test done. Let stand 10 minutes. Remove from pans to cool. Makes 2 loaves.
NOTE: I wish BEFORE people posted a recipe claiming it's the genuine recipe from a certain company… they were honest! I posted this recipe because I had previously posted that I’m looking for an actual recipe either a photocopy or picture of LIBBY'S® Pumpkin Nut Bread on the label of canned pumpkin. The recipe can be found on the in side of LIBBY'S® Pumpkin can label in 1980-1990’s. Through the years, LIBBY'S® has altered the recipe.
Cream sugar and oil. Add eggs and pumpkin: mix well.
