Design for Health is a school project for Master Interaction Design created by Nelle Van der Meiren & Silvio De Raeve. After brainstorming, our idea was to make a tangible interface for children between 6-10 years old. With the interface they can make shots a little less bad for children. With the interface they can make their own personalized shell for their shot by drawing what the want. If you would like to see what it does before making it you can watch the video.

Necessities:

- 2x 4mm MDF wooden plate (H30cm-W60cm)

- 1 Arduino

- Makey Makey cables (you can use any other extension cable)

- Straight Slide Potentiometer Module for Arduino

- button for Arduino

- Laptop

- screen

-18 mm thickness wood (W3,05m-H1,22m)

- 2 webcams

- paint

- glue

-flexiglas

Programs

-Rhino

-Grashopper

-Firefly

-Ghowl

-Arduino

-Adobe Illustrator

-Reactivision

Step 1: Make the Table

Use: 18 mm thickness wood (W3,05m-H1,22m)

We made a table with a height of 80 cm. We used a Illustrator to make the table and used a milling machine the make the table in the FABLAB. You can download the file.

Step 2: Make the 1st Part That Fits Into the Top of the Table

Use: 4mm MDF wooden plate (H30cm-W60cm)

In the top there is an engravement with a depth of 8 mm. This 1st part fills up 4 mm of the 8 mm. You can download the file.

Step 3: Make the 2nd Part That Fits Into the Top of the Table & Box for the Shot.

Use: 4mm MDF wooden plate (H30cm-W60cm)

In the top there is an engravement with a depth of 8 mm. This 2nd part fills up the next 4 mm of the 8 mm. In the file there is also the box where you can later put your Straight Slide Potentiometer Module for Arduino. You can download the file.

Step 4: Paint the Parts of the Top.

Use: paint

This is painted our way. But you can do is the way you want it.

Step 5: Print the Fiducials & Glue Them Beneath the Drops

Use: glue

You can find the ficucials here. We used ID 1-9. This fiducials are linked with the color in our Grashopper file. In step 8 you can find our grasshopper file. You also need the program reactivision to read the fiducials.

Step 6: Connect the Arduino

You need to download Firefly_Build1.0067 and run the Arduino code Firefly Firmata on your Arduino. You need to connect the slider and button on your Arduino. The slider and button is connected to the file in Arduino. You can see with the picture of step 4 where you can put the slider and button.

Step 7: Make the Camera Stand.

To attached the camera on the left side we used screws.

Step 8: Open Grashoppper in Rhino.

Download Rhino and the plugin Rhino and open the grasshopper file.

Don't forget to open Reactivision to.

Step 9: Finalize

Attached monitor to your laptop.

Attached 2 webcams to your laptop:

-1 cam on the left camera stand

- 1 cam on the 1st below the 1 hole in shape of a drop.

Run the program and try out.

<p>Interesting project, thank you for sharing.</p>
