Desk organiser

A colleague and I had a talk about the mess on our desks. Therefor we came up with this idea for a desk organiser.

A plate of steel has been cut into size, the end is folded and two holes are drilled for screws. We painted the plate and screwed a ring from a ring binder onto the plate.

I would like the painted plate of steel to become a whiteboard. Does anyone know if it’s possible and how to do it?
